i fold your question into my palm
like a coin i don’t intend to spend —
it is heavy with maybes, thin with how.

uncertainty breathes between the ribs,
it is not a thief, only a guest
who sits too long at the table.

i cannot tell which part of you broke
or whether breaking was the map;
i only know the hello you keep
is not a shame but a small bright thing,
a light you are allowed to pocket.

call me unsure, call me soft —
either way, you are not made foolish here.
the question stays; the memory stays;
both are proof that something was true.
