The Spider
on my brim
dons tangible markings.
Crafted genes engage
to warn iconic
of principled
death.

She measures
her tacky line, loping
anchors across
waxen badges
encrusted with
doubt.

I don’t fear
the web she spins
above my cerebellum
since due warning
of predatory intent
gleans....

Premium Member Red At Night
Great black clouds
Clot the blood-red sky,
Pink stained shadows
Where daylights go to die.
Candlelit processions
In valley ways awake,
Trickle waxen grief
Onto valley lake,
Threading bright the promise
Though choir has ceased refrain,
Holding back the night
That dawn should come again....

Precious
Allusions of brewing brown
that made its way to tinsel town.

At dawn it turned to waxen white
with gleaming glow against the light.

With warm embrace to fuming flow,
it wilted into glazing glow.

With shifting shapes like honing hue,
its flare became the fad of few.

Hospice
Giving up,
we lose ourselves
in soft denials,
tally up bone-tinted
Kodaks – recall
brief glints of eye,
succinct resemblances
of generations.

Listlessly,
we wait
death’s domination—
cool brushes
of wind,
flutterings
of waxen wings
& last breaths,
dusky, distant
as the webbed
membranes
of memories....

My Lost Love
Invisible knife shimmering soft
Delicious brides shimmering soft
grooms chortle love on silky slips

Stealthy sultry skin
hot and waxen
Fevered positions
nocturnal passion

Vows of night
consummated by day
Shadow dressed light
love bled away

Invisible knife shimmering soft
Delicious brides shimmering soft...

Flames of Waxen Pillars
Flames glow with rhythmic fluttering, casting dark shadows upon my wall. Paraffin rivers trickle from candles, spilling in flow that mimics my tears. My voice whispers, calling your name. I smother the wicks of waxen pillars. October 31, 2021 Bite Size Poem no25 Contest Sponsored by Line Gauthier

Forsaken
He thrust the dagger through her heart
Then watched her breathe her last,
For once she had forsaken him
The die was surely cast.

Upon her waxen cheek
He placed a tender kiss.
Then lay his head upon her breast
And opened up his wrist.

Tears stained his face
As they were joined in death.
He took her lifeless hand in his,
Then took his final breath....

Premium Member Living Art
Syrupy dewdrops,
slowly trickle
down the sides of
a yellow tulip.
And a red blush
tints the bloom,
as though kissed
by the sun's first rays.
Its gilded light pools
like liquid gold,
as translucent cells
absorb color.
And waxen petals
morph, into a
spectacular
unique flower.
While a sky of blue
hangs in contrast,
for this masterpiece
of living art....

Premium Member Crayons and City Buses
Some were peeling
others chipped and cracked
some sat tall and semi-pristine
others were beautifully bent and black
one even wore the colors of another
all were silent as ice mountain monks.

There were a few empty seats
(monuments to the lost?)
where do the discarded and forgotten go?
where do waxen souls leave their mark...
An old box of crayons is much like a city bus....

Silence
Subtle sounds are all around us A kind of silence one can’t hear. A child’s soap-pipe-bubbles bursting or some lovers eyes shedding tears. One does not hear a falling snowflake nor nature’s music of the spheres for so many go unnoticed it’s as though we all lack ears. Silence is a lone taper flame, a dim flickering solitaire smouldering on its waxen wick to a slow deafened melody extinguished before it is heard.

Wax and Metal
Singing silver in the sky,
thinks that life won't pass her by,
on wings of silver she will fly,
avoiding land where dead ones lie.

Metal feathers and waxen wings,
he didn't listen to a father's teachings,
only was told to pack his things,
should have remembered what flying high brings.

Golden eyes and feathered hair,
deep-set pupils take chance to glare,
both will not fly in their domain,
metal wings always bring pain....

Glacial
GLACIAL
Scent of lilies.
His pain over, mine just begun.
I caressed those hands, gifted, loving.
Kissed his waxen brow.

A blink away from the dying sun,
the ignition key trembled.
I half-expected to waken,
clasped in his arms. Soothed
back to life, on the mourning air.

Our silent house stood strong,
and healthy,
ticking away lonely hours and empty nights.
While I flinched from the glacial steppes,
of our marital bed.

Premium Member The First Days of Spring
Uprooting dreams of yesterday time sows the seeds of tomorrow. And clouds shed tears of April rain as winter wanes and warmth abounds. Fleeing far-flung sanctuaries migrating birds start heading home. And on the winds of open sky caterpillars try newfound wings. Wild trillium and daffodil usher in the first days of spring. And tulips flaunt their waxen bells atop stems of emerald green. (Blank Verse) 3/18/2015

Bougainvillea
Hanging brightly like lightning from heaven,
a riveting explosion of colours,
from angelic white to royal purple to classic pink,
you'll find your choice here.
Slender white flowers covered
with a three piece waxen skirt of bracts
makes your fingers itch to touch them,
but all beautiful things come with a cost,
minute thorns surround the flowers,
like mini towers, protecting them.
Dazzling evergreen beauty,
bougainvillea is a must for your garden.

Modern Marketing, a Sonnet
Oh heavy heart these PR men in power
Yellow waxen masks reciting lies
Discovered by research in college towers
Who watch flashing brains in MRIs
Recording as fear lightens lobes
Word and images recorded and sold by drones
For use by corporate men round the globe
Control both CEOs and worker clones
Yet life's free forces flow in city and town
For through the dark. forces strive to transcend
As ever bruised and bloodied onward bound
Through a jumble of fears passes the path of men...
