Too Near To See
Mother thought me gone.
She wrote cryptic notes
left them in the mailbox unaddressed.
Occasionally she thought me dead
or travelling in a dangerous land
being held hostage by hostile tribesmen.
Eventually she gave up
yet I was always near

This behaviour that men display towards women,
is all due to a lifetime of conditioning.

what crime did i commit that i should be banned
my mother's face i can not see

but traffic jams and snowstorm
is what i get instead

is all i crave
