Peace Keeping Opossum

peace-keeping opossum with such an ugly pink tail
rids your yard of mice and snakes
a terrific mommy, she keeps her brood close
often is not dead so do not get too close too fast

The Weight

heavy are
the pounds
of a Black woman
torn down

much lighter
she becomes
rids herself
of some

her heart
unbound
a powerful
sound
of beating
rhythmic
and calling
on herself
to keep
from falling

By the Brilliant Sea

The grave is outgrown,

replaced by pastel pink -

changing rooms and hearty laughter;

Her eyes gleaming -

w/ joyful abandon,

w/ towel in hand, She sweeps back

Her slick, golden tresses,

and rids them of the waves

and rids them of the world.

Haberdasher's Thoughts

Haberdasher’s Thoughts

The haberdasher has
that season of the year
he rids his racks, his bins
of oddments.
I have no season of the year
like that.
Today, or any day, a derby,
spats or chrome-tipped cane
can shuffle out from stock.
I have no choice.
I have to offer counter space.

A Step Outside

Stepping outside
The cold bites my nose
Eats my toes
Ices my cheeks
Frosts my feet
Turns blue my knee's
It's -8 degrees!
The cold nibbles my ears
Freezes my fears
Clanks my teeth
Oh good grief!
Catches my eyes
Takes me by surprise
It's so cold
It gets to my soul
Racks my brain
Rids of the pain
All in stepping outside

Your Lips

They tempt me,
Oh so subtly.
Sultry, full
Dripping with seduction,
Oh how the temptation
rids any reservations
And steals my breath
When I come close.
Connecting our souls,
Finally!
When they touch,
Your passion against mine,
intertwining, needing
Gentle and rough
Pleasure and pain.
Oh your lips,
The things they could do to me.

Love

Love is a rainbow,
on any given day,
love is a feeling,
not just words that we say.

Love can't conquer,
faults that we have,
but it can overlook,
and never entertain doubt.

Love brings beautiful smiles,
to many a face,
rids bitter hearts,
and joins compatable mates.

Love is searched for,
in many a place,
and love can be found,
believe in Fate.

You Don'T Choose, Choice F's You

Beads of clear liquor trickle

Like fickle tears a lick rids.

A drop slid down amidst

Thick fears.

Choice of liquor? Beer.

Steer inward towards clear

Ambitious

Glee.

Then, when opportunity peers from behind a mouth,

Opportunity flees.

Dripping, rivers of fluid dy-manics steer.

Simply be.

It does not choose the destination it nears.

It chooses to be free.

Fantasy-Prone

Illicit thoughts, erotic dreams
Nothing is ever what it seems.
Sweet delusions, my illusions
Rids me of all life's confusion.
Drifting to another place
While my life becomes a waste
Addicted to the ecstasy-
The ecstasy of fantasy
Everything will always be-
Better when its fantasy
Everything will always feel-
Better than if it were real
Real life's a waste of time,
Live life within your mind.

Ransom

What price would you pay
For everlasting life
Where there's no more heartaches
Nor soul wrenching strife

What price would you pay
For the numberless years
Of the light without darkness
That calms all our fears

And what price would you pay
For the the chance to obtain
A peace without limits
It rids us of pain

What price would you pay
Was never applied
He Loved us so much
For this reason He died

Knowing Me

Your reflection comes from my radiant light,
which shines upon your face so bright.
I am your Savior-God, your everything.
Your salvation is provided, by the one true King.

We are all transformed from the inside out,
God's divine Power, rids us of all doubt.

So relax and rejoice, wonder no more,
I will be their waiting, as you walk through my door.

With your intimate knowledge of me
comes a place in my Kingdom, for eternity.

Heart of My Sky

The sun
My hope
My faith
The sun

It warms my face
Rids of the cold
It brings good
Forbids evil

Optimistic
Shining so bright
Up high above my head
Showing me my life path

The rays beating down
In a friendly way
Cradling us all
It's children

A lesson
It teaches us
To never stop shining
In the darkest hours of life

Never ever stop fighting
If what you are,
Is worth it
Shine

The sun
The heart of the sky
The heart of all hope
The sun

Mountains

When you feel discouraged
Don't let your heart despair
For when you face your mountains
Jesus will meet you there

My yoke is easy and my burden is light
To the world proclaimed the King
So rest your cares upon Him
And let your praises ring

In our darkest hours
He rids us of our fears
He holds us in His promise
To wipe away our tears

So when you feel defeated
And your mountains seem too high
He will guide your every step
Till Heaven draws us nigh

Friends

Great souls by instinct
To each other turn,
As side by side
Their lessons they learn.

One soul in two bodies
Describes a good Friend,
One who will need you
'Till God's angels descend.

Prosperity makes us lots of friends
Though adversity rids us of most.
What few we keep, we always love
Long after they are but ghost.

Out of the night, which covers us
It's easy to see where friends are made;
Among the stars, behind the moon
Where heaven begins its parade.
