Super Glue, Diazepam, and a Quart of Nyquil

My life revolves around
Heart breaks, Long goodbyes
And way to many sleepless nights

My heart breaks
Every time I take a breath
And I’m still standing here alone

My hands shake
Every time you turn away
And I am forced to let you go

My mind keeps
Me from drifting off to sleep
Just by picturing you here next to me

A Quart of Scotch With Chinese Food

somehow having a child

in a city kept you desperate,

made you accept drinking

as a way of life.

the chain smoking

the waitress job

that gin mill

the office job.

belonging is another

form of punishment.

beaten by men

              by odds,

you never loved yourself enough.

the rest was hot coffee

on a cold night, with the kind of love

that puts muzzles on dogs.

Little Quart

We were so strong right from the start
We gave each other a true heart

We planned and conspired what the future would hold
We were joyous to watch it all unfold

You were mine and I was yours
Your love for me deep to the core

We were a family of a sort
You, me and little quart

My love I gave, to you both
Along with my undying oath

Holding her on my lap
How I loved to hear her laugh

For a time I watched her grow
What my heart holds you will not know
