God created the manifest universe
but without His breath everything was inert,
so He outpoured grace with no need to rehearse,
that life across all worlds may begin to spurt
but boon became bane, ego made life a curse,
estranged from love, spewing venom, causing hurt.
Love is the tool by which souls may reunite,
with God, our creator, full of love and light.
LAZY AFTERNOON
Heady with scented freshness,
The drowsily flowing river
Glides through a sun-skimmed
Summer's simmering day -
As outpoured wine to be savoured,
Together with the static, fevered tones
Of a hot, unquenchable breeze,
Slow-meandering in its languid state,
Unhurried by the lazy afternoon's stillness,
Spent in the somnolent embrace
Of a weighted, swaying hammock,
Where the beat of time seems suspended.
To morning hope I belong
It's the same birds song;
Reminding me to pray
Day by day
Until it flies away.
I'm hoping to open the blind
To see what is its kind
this joyful warbler of mine.
"Thank you God for ears and time
To sit and to read Your Word.
Before I rise, my life outpoured."
I'm sure a neighbour would know,
This bird's name like a pro
so I could greet it
Next time when it would sit
With sweet morning song
To hope we belong.
