Premium Member Pointy the Pig
Pointy, the pig rider came around the corner with a screech.
He was sitting at the top of the zebra bowls, his whip was a reach.
Why does he always have to outdo the rest of us? Asked Mr. Mace.
Angry now because Poindy and the bowls were winning the race....

The Favors
The thing with favors is that they eventually
outdo themselves,
Almost like overzealous elves,
One too many favors may deem a person
too obliging,
Sometimes they are enhancers to one
who is conniving,
After a while, favors become redundant,
and they disappear from the memory,
because humans are fickle and lack
camaraderie....

Premium Member Easter Parade
People dress in their Sunday best. Each one tries to outdo all the rest. I can just hear Judy Garland and Fred Astaire sing. That late, great couple reminds us of a once-a-year thing. Are you going to wear that Easter bonnet you made? You surely would look grand in an Easter Parade. inspired by another member's poem

Premium Member Shout
Seize a loud choice,
Hurl a firm verse;
Outdo bold voice,
Urge flings words terse;
Tell in sure thrust.
Surge sensuous style;
Charm floods to crush,
Rush frees loud smiles;
Expound the way,
Alarm pimps boast;
Mime sparkles stray.
Opt bursting toast;
Use finds foul fire,
Trick burning pyre.

Premium Member Holiday Foods
Holiday recipes created by others
Christmas dishes decorated in festive colors
Laden with sugar and salt sweet and sour
Where is my long-gone missing will power?

Any dieting I did before I left at the moors
When families meet, my appetite soars
Fattening foods and decorated tables outdo each other
An amusement for a professional cook, my grandmother...

Premium Member ice cream social grandparents
I do not know what normal looks like on grandparents
I have the ice cream social sugar cream pink peach ones
And I have the orange striped circus leopard grandparents
Today my ice cream social grandparents visited my birthday party
I thought your other grandparents were weird until now Kathy said.
Thank you! I replied, glad she realizes now these outdo the others....

Premium Member Lady Nicotine
Looking back,
my uncle was a joker...
In the bar most nights
and heavy smoker.

Coughed his way through life,
and Lady Nicotine
had no small part
to play.

She made sure she was
in the bar holding
his lighter
and drawing him on to further cigarettes.

Together they would blow
blue rings
and try to outdo the other on the sofa...
Uncle won.

Souls
Souls do not weigh much.
Not at all-
that they can outdo the lightness of a feather
and even the barest of all wrecked hearts.
Souls- too delicate,
that they stray upon vibration of the thinnest air.
You see, I have a soul.
It will take me.
And I will let it.
And as for you,
who is a soul wrapped within a soul-
if the air takes you,
then I shall let you go....

Premium Member The Wearing of the Green
As I gaze over my valley
It is such a pretty scene.
I suspect it’s much like Ireland
With the wearing of the green.

And although she won’t be marching
In St Patrick’s big parade,
She is ready for the party
And her plans have all been made.

Dressed in various greens of springtime,
With bright colors in between,
There’s no place that can outdo her
In the wearing of the green....

Live Better Than Yesterday
J-ust live better than yesterday,
E-very morning is new;
A-s you wake up from slumber,
N-ever think of the night so blue.
E-arnestly live better than yesterday,
T-omorrow will come again;
T-oday is the moment to shine,
E-vading the shadows that end.

E-arly January twenty-ninth,
B-ad and worse fade into gray;
A-im to outdo your own work,
L-ive better than yesterday....

Premium Member could crows outdo ravens fame
crows began flying in like cloak-laden witches
landing on the Iowa scarecrow with the rotten head
they were picking at it now, eating out the pulp
laughing at it, making that evil caw sound they do
it seems macabre one said, and they all laughed
feeling like Poe’s raven, only brighter and smarter.
hoping someone would write a poem about them.
wondering if they could outdo the raven’s fame....

 Let your adornment not be external
  our crowning glory must never be camouflage
Into the hearts of dupe believer's cultures
Did the holy wreath hurt as much as my broken heart?
A shrike can outdo the Pied Piper's bewitching flute anytime
Safeguard our hearts from these foolish acts of men
Let your adornment not be external,
purge out the evil within their soul: saying I love you is unrealistic.

Premium Member A Ledger
I look upon my life as a ledger
Where recorded is all that I've done.
My blessings outweigh my trials
By at least one hundred to one.

On one side the sheet is what I've done
The other, what God's done for me.
I know that they never will balance
For I always fall short you see.

There's no way that I can outdo Him
No matter how hard I may try
For each time that I make an entry
I find God's made many from on high....

Oh moon, be calm as you fade away from sight. Beat shaped in my heart, and the pulse is harder. Nature! Your artistic scenes outdo all heights. Venus smiled as the Moon blinked in her harbor. Stars made a pledge to upkeep the night sky bright. Ah, jealous moon, recall daffodils ardor. Shades splash in sapphire, arc's dazzling Edenic. Grace nature, your brushwork is bright and scenic.

Homework... What Homework?!?
The clock strikes nine. Ink fills the night sky, until the silvery orb in the heavens is the only source of light.
The clock strikes twelve. Tiny pinpricks of light dot the raven-dark heavens. They shine brightly; as if each was
trying to outdo the last. I sit. And stare. And wonder. The clock strikes three. I shift and pick up my
homework. The assignment is a three page essay, due today. Should I do it? Nah... I toss it aside and resume
my staring of the sky....

Don'T You Want To Be There
Don’t you want to be there
When I look back and turn around with it all
Behind us with it all
Wrapped up and we can be and dance
 I may sing, or at least we’ll laugh until
We choke and they can all stare
With you there was never anyone else around anyways
It is with you that I lose it all and
It all falls away
I want to be there when all we have to do
Is eat scrambled eggs and bacon in a tortilla
And outdo each other and laugh until we can’t breath

Tao
Twin flames try to outdo
each other's fiery aggression;
there is a black flame,
and a white flame.

They existed long before stars
began to twinkle.

The white flame is calm, patient,
honest, kind.....and many other
traits of mindfulness.
The dark flame is harsh, aggressive,
impatient, ill-intended....and many
other evil traits.

Until now,
the twin flames still try
to outdo each other's
fiery strength....

the machine talks
the machine talks when the mind is mute-so let creativity shine

-------------------------------------------------------------------
**the ai machine eliminates imagination; it cannot replicate the feelings, emotion and soul that goes into writing poetry.
Being old school, I write to the best of my ability instead of trying to improve it by other means- or trying to outdo another writer if I think my work is inferior to theirs. To remain honest and true to myself is the best accolade....
