Death and Taxes
Unto the earth below my end commences
for I have committed life’s last offences.
But not even death will save
me from taxes in the grave
and now I can’t deduct living expenses!

To Winifred:
Wild and beautiful flower
I shudder as the thorns
Numb my veins. I cower;
I fear as I attempt to lock horns
For your beauty
Radiates at a pace
Eternal beings of the Celestial City
Drool over. Your face
Uncovered with words
Guiding me in life’s race
Over life’s pointy swords
Reality check: your offences Jet through my defences

Tomb of Unburied Days
While volcanoes rehearse to show their teeth
lovers shouting from the well of the house
wave broken condoms rather than broken trust
conflate dissent on self-erasing slates
and prove worse than the old oxen
long following circuitous ways
billowing opposition, discalced defenders
they all assert superior dishonesty
sell cheap what is most dear or make
offences of new affections
I carry the tomb of unburied days
