Raised on the rock of Golgotha,
For all eyes to see,
Sinners hung like lizards
stuck on a tree.
What song for its prey
Will the Grey Shrike sing?
Avast! It's the Lamb of God,

we know
he's got a
thing for you
we were
all able to
keep quiet
about as to
what it is
and what
to do to
keep
peace in
only friend
ship but he
has sailed
so long
ago that
he must
be near
ing the
edge of
the world
right about
now

What do we hold on to, if hope decides to abandon us this fast?
Where is the faith, If within 24 hours it couldn't last?
How do we function, with our fragile hearts, aghast ?
Weren't these vibrant souls supposed to outlast?
The mind yearns for answers, from a million questions cast
The Nation mourns, with flags at half mast.
I stand tall and proud upon this ship
Never have I wavered on any trip.
If you listen you will hear me in the wind,
speaking to you again and again.
Stories of a ragging sea,
while the fisherman worked below me.
Lightening and thunder clashed in the sky,
but I held firm against the tide.
Sometimes the sky was so blue,
and we would sail straight through.
Yes I am the Mast upon this vessel it’s true,
Sail with me and I will protect you.

Beneath a mountain sky;
Called by name Bristlecone.
Twisted tree all alone
With green needles so dark
Life clings stoic and stark.
Worn wood with thin bark edge
Locked to a limestone ledge.
Thousands of years flowed past
‘Gainst snow and wind, a mast.
No sails with which to fly
You grew gnarled by-and-by.
Drought and quakes, you did face
Yet you held firm your place.
Despite all nature’s strife,
How do you cling to life?
