furnishings make the house-
possessions make it home
possessions make the house-
family makes it home
family makes the house-
a child makes it home
children make the house-
devotion makes it home
devotion makes the house-
love furnishes a home...

Aged
Static furnishings adorn each era kindly.
Antiques must also succumb to extinction.
The deck was stacked with distinction.
The dust of sunlight is carried by those we have loved.
Dreams float on long removed from our bodies,
They grow wise with our spirits in mind.
The answer to life is best left to rest.
This quest across ages, homes, and said pages lined,
Was undeniably more valuable than what ends we would find....

Premium Member Clean Heart- -
I heard a cleanly, fouled dredging
When I thought of the clean heart
When I thought of the clean heart
The fresh friend finishing
The groomed gut gargling
As of someone gently refinishing, refinishing
Deep into that darkness open
My mind always strays to furnishings
The groomed green-ware giving
The textiles came outliving
Covering me partially
Oh! God my house and heart filthy, dirty Lord God give me a clean heart

An Ordinary Object
On my kitchen counter sits
A catch-all made of tin,
A place for scissors, pencils and
Whatever else fits in.

My room was being painted in
The color of my choice;
And finally, for furnishings,
My mom gave me a voice.

I chose the bedspreads and the lamp
And knickknacks picturesque;
The jaunty yellow pencil cup
Sat proudly on my desk.

That object's followed me for years
Wherever I’ve called home
And now I’m giving it its due,
Within this simple poem....

Self Awareness
Just out of sight for all of this time
My reflection convoluted
Because it was effused through the eyes of others
Embarking on strange and harrowing journeys
To find only an empty castle
Countless attempts I have made to fill this space
Cavernous and cold, even adorned with my inadequate furnishings
No more of this
The mirror shall be my own,
Not the sleek dark orbs of strangers with their own intent
Within the comfort of my own reflection
My journey starts anew....

Premium Member If You Must Know
A dozen questions?
You want to know more...

Confront the conflict
Seek to go deeper

Focus tramples feel
With a certain flick

Short circuit in cold trace
Recycle odds and ends

When darkness falls
Nothing much happens

Words tell a lie
In authentic fake

More of the same
In dying flames

Need I say more
To state my case?

Do you detect
A certain slack?

Or old furnishings
In a re-run coup?
