Say It's So, Joe
There once was a fellow named Joe
To the Soup, he was comrade and foe
At times he would blog
Then poets would flog
Yet, he always would leave us aglow...

Clerihew Butterworth
Geoff Butterworth the English colourist is my pick
to make watercolours so realistic
His paintings have perspective the discerning now seek

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Yesterday, big bites
Time flog the sweat to attempt
Killing lullaby
Today, chased the waves
Sprint lost towards to the sea
Swam and freely dove
Tomorrow, treasures
The time penned another page

Life Lived
Shake out the trembles that restrain you
Walk upright in a downward glanced world
Shake the hand that refuses you
Smile at the demons that control you
Relive the moments that embarrass you
Grovel in the sand that grates you
Reach out to enemies that flog you

Walkies
I could go anywhere with my walkie
I’m talking walkie talkie
long before I knew I needed a dog
(anxiety is funny that way
striking when you want to play
locked in a cage with your brain set to flog)
I could go anywhere and talk to anyone
else paralyzed sitting alone on my bum
sorry this poem sucks I have to go walk my dog...

Modern Day Slavery
My heart raged like a black sea over shore;
then anchored he in the depths of an unsure land,
a bleak morrow trickling from the neck of an hour-glass
unto the bottom of a slave - ship.
I breathe in the stench of whipped pride,
at sun set beyond the Atlantic,
as breeze of pines and autumn birches
flog nostril hairs; and stiffened gazes,
trod the white screens day and night...

She Seeks His Demise
Sheer anguish is what she seeks
like a two-edged sword
coming from her mouth
she request his very soul to pierce
She cannot flog him as she wishes
so venom spews from her lips
taking away his power
shutting down his vital organs
Just as a wounded animal,
caught in the jaws of death,
he prayed to perish
as her fangs sink deep into his flesh
The sureness of reality he sees,
the certainty his demise will be....

Metaphor and Simile We Flog Them So To Death
Oh I am a little metaphor
I love to play a word,
today I am a fortress on
Tuesday I’m a bird
On Wednesday I’m a simile
cos I’m like a train, storming
into history,to play this wordy game
On Thursday’s I push the boat out,
ploughing through the waves, then
Fridays I’m like a scimitar, slicing
through the raves
And if you catch me weekend, I
won’t hold a grudge, just take me
as you find me, wink, wink,
nudge, nudge, nudge....

I Am a Proud Cat
I am proud to be a cat but a cat
All time I feed on clean fresh milk as
Mankind labor and cry all lifetime
Agamas think I am a coward in life
People thank me for being bright but
Rats abuse me when I break their tails
Owls throw bad oracles against me
Unkind cows flog me with their tails
Donkeys complain of back-aches
Calm, wise I live in comfort and peace
All day fights and abuses bring doom
Try them and the skies will open doors...

Poetry In Making
By Parizo Van Thulare
Like the thunderstorm in my mind
It rolls ,seeking a way out
It crawls deep out of my pores, hoping to see sun
Burning as the veld fire
From my medulla to my spine ,the heat is felt .
In words rhyming like in a flog
Telling me to wake up and let in bleed
Round and round down my mouth
It wants to speak for the broken
The mender of souls
The healer of hearts
The remedy of doubts
This is POETRY in making...

Hoggin' the Seats
Seats in Starbucks seem quite scarce
‘Cause laptop users hog ‘em.
Dirty looks won’t make them move –
Perhaps it’s time to flog ‘em.
Sitting in a precious seat
For hours seems quite piggy,
Even if they’re doing work
Or tryin’ to get jiggy.
Other people want to sit
When sippin’ brews or snackin’;
No one has the nerve to ask
Those gluttons to get packin’.
Selfishness today appears
To be the status quo.
Perhaps a Starbucks laptop charge
Just might be apropos....
