Amuse

Down Under when one can not sleep
One busies one's self counting sheep
Snooze you lose
Ewes your muse
Aussie poets are now knee-deep

Pd How Foxxy Is She - Can'T Post a Question Mark Here

There once was a foxy young poet,
With a lawn and no one to mow it.
So she rustled some ewes,
And then ate them in twos -
And as for the grass, she’ll re-grow it.

Ram 4 Ewes

An exotic lunch to serve your boss:
The Aussie Salad with Sheep Dip Sauce!
The flavour's unique
(When cured at its peak)
Though kissing cousins may wish to floss
Form: Limerick

The Shepherd

Its not much fun for the lowly sheep
They only eat and crap and sleep
But when the shepherd brings the ram
Its bish bash bosh “Why thank you ma am”
Then lets the old tup through the gate
His flock of ewes to impregnate

Evening

Embers burning low now
Every creature yawning
Even the little mouse
Evening draws curtains close
Eyes flutter and then shut
Ewes jump fences quickly
Easily lulled to sleep

This is meant to be a Pleiades, but I didn't see the form as an option.

Nor Folk

The ewes are gathering at salt licks
The ovens are hot for baking bricks
My mum is humming,
"Christmas is coming" *
My dad, it seems, is getting his kicks

*Winter is frigid in Norfolk, which may
account for 19th-century women
naming their sons, "Christmas"!

                  snow fields turn to melt
                tulips open sunshine’s felt
              lambs bleat where ewes knelt

Premium Member The Joy Of Spring

Winter's gloom is now behind us, spring brings in new beginnings and a feeling of joy.
Quote by poet.

Ice melting, snow on hills. Chill morning air, temps begin to rise, spring slowly creeping in. Bright warmer days are coming, ewes give birth, lambs frolic in fields. Green foilage grows along with flowers, spring joy is here, the gateway to summer.

COUNTING SHEEP
Mike the mouse tossed and turned in his bed with visions of furry sheep in his head but instead of sweet dreams he heard their loud screams as they chewed on his favorite bread. So if you can’t sleep, take a cue from Mike, his sheep, and all the ewes. Just laugh and don’t fret, You'll find no regret, For dreams can be silly, it’s true! ©Sara Etgen-Baker 2025

Beatrix Potter

A good old duck, a mother hen,
a friend of Peter Rabbit; chased
Mr. McGregor out of the garden:
the Flopsy Bunnies survive again.

She knew her ewes from her rams,
meticulous, house-proud in her way.
A hedgehog, a Mrs. Tiggy Winkle
every field mouse allowed to stay.

Cumbria and the Lake District
will never see her like again:
North country girl, illustrator,
storyteller with brush and pen.

Premium Member Don'T Bother Counting Sheep - Trochee

Sleep is such a precious thing
Now I lay my head,
Close my mind from worrying,
Count some sheep instead

I drift off into my dream...
Hubby starts to snore !
Not again!! Well, I can scheme,
Ewes and me at war !

Sheep stampeding out the door !
A panic stricken flock
I've pushed hubby to the floor
A frantic man in shock!

Chronos

Dribble down our chins
Flee now our present sorrows
Scribble down our sins
We may resent our tomorrows

Wish the alarm would snooze itself
Yet wish we were counting ewes
Wish our charm would excuse wealth
Net fish with thieving crews

Spend us sweat, spend us time
Cheek by jowl, nose to the grind
Make us debt, make us dime
Shriek and howl, clock rewind!

So we have lost
All of yesterday's joys
At our great cost
Chronos makes us his toy

Other Noises Can'T Catch My Eye

Reaching for the sky
that isn't there
breathing clods of dirt
as they hide within the air
Only hear the silence
other noises can't catch my eye
Don't you get it
Cant you smell the visions
Lateral pressure
Unsupported
Hold my head
Hi still with me
I write what i can't free
buried somewhere
named me
was my fathers gift
unless you count his fist
ewes wards hat r knot write
use words that are not right
Let these lines take flight
stealing the last of me

Premium Member Tagged Ewe

On looking through the window
A humorous sight I'd seen,
A quartet of lively ewes
Were playing Tag on the green.

Leaping over twisted logs,
Around the rocks they skipped,
Sweeping round the bendy field.
Down and up they dipped.

Butting heads and locking horns,
Bumping each other in the side -
( I think if I was one of them
I'd be terrified! )

At times it looked violent.
But it's their way of having fun.
What a joy to watch these adult sheep
Baa and play and run!
