A Tree and the Wind
A tree
yellowish
trembled...
a wind
strongly winded,
carried
leaves,
flowers fruits and
a bunch
of canaries...
the tree
stayed
gray in color
unpainted,
denuded... !...

We
the mind thinks
to construct all journeys
even the impossible
for all
members of the planet
who walk disguised
and with cosmetics
and forget
that in the unknowable
we are always one

Out On the Porch December 4 2011
Heavy frost, below freezing tempertures
Have denuded some trees
The pale pink running roses frozen sure
No longer the flutter or buzz of bees
Winter winds only thing to endure
Heavy over hanging clouds dampness
A lone buzzard flies
Irony spring buds adorn trees......

Aren'T We
In a dither for a dollar
Monies are being squandered
The pox is upon us
Taxes are ponderous
Stuffed shirts are foolish
Peace yet eluded us
The world gets Denuded.
We're living in the space age
Can't eliminate war and hate.
These hard truths we face
We are a better human race.
Are'nt We.?...

Autumn Threads
Golden threads finger through the fog
To whisper at frosted boughs
For dawn is yawning at quilted trees
Where sunlight doth tap the pane of silent glass
Reflecting the blaze burning bright
Through misty Elms denuded
Of shame through natures stark humility

The Swarm
There's an entity called "The Human Swarm"
It's presently 8 billion strong
Steam rolling anything in its way
Animals are most often made to pay
Inflated sense of entitlement a force driving
mindless acts
Lives of animals not equal is taken as fact
A planet denuded of flora and fauna will
become
Another barren rock orbiting the sun...

Naked Too Late For Contest
Autumn is a thief! She stole my gown of gold
She let it fall gently onto the ground out of my reach!
Naked …I'm totally naked, denuded of my fabulous fallen frock
Now I'm at the mercy of the wild wicked winter winds
I’ll shiver until spring brings me a new dress of vibrant green
Not posted in time for contest

October Morn
Gilded streams tapestry weave
Frothy dew doth pageant aggrieve
Brimming bough wrapped in embroidered sleeve
Withering grass to the denuded soil doth cleave
Translucent sickles glimmer on each availing eve
Bristling ice pelets bleary-eyed cisterns do heave
Mercurial splendor doth summer's monotony relieve
Chilled masses do body's warm circulation deceive...

Winter Wind
Churlish wind hovers overhead
Ready to chart its path of dread
By wistful, listless conductor led
Twirling baton with rotors fed
A swirling blender over land spread
Careening, eerie echo left in its stead
Fluffing the threads of barren bed
Wispy fibers in ginning whirlpool sped
Silty granules from denuded top shred
Strafing the strands of every bare head...

Sitting At My Desk Among the Aspen and Pine
Sitting at my Desk Among the Aspen and Pine
David J Walker
The intoxicating scent of
pinion pine
on the mountain
In the rain
I cannot explain
Its rejuvenating qualities
I only know
I am renewed
And the solitude
Of Aspen denuded
In the first snow
Of the season
Defines the reasons
I go
As often as possible
Sitting at my desk
Among the
Aspen and Pine...

A Wintered Morning
Visit New Mexico,
she says... diamond cut sea
colored skies, a white
bursting. Sparkles. Reach
for these silver crests; gather-
birds soaring. Enspheres.
Orange tincture of
the peels loosening.Cruer
trickling down your
hands shaped like these peeled
spectral trees. Edges. Claws, clenched.
Titian dresses
the denuded bark:
sunlit ornaments. Deserts.
Bloodshot cast wings. Clots....

Wrapped In Stigma
The heritage
went for a sale. A tree
stands denuded, after
a nudie.
An orange land hides
the broken remains of terra
cota. I wanted an earthen
inkpot and a reed pen.
There was a wounded word
on the tongue. A
dragonfly leaves the voracious
appetite and skims on milk.
Pulsating cleavage
gets a prize. The salt lakes
are full. A caged bird
will not sing.

Touch Therapy - 5
She needed an answer that was amathyst,
an answer that peeled the Past
and frolics the Future
like a feather on your tender ear,
She dove into her duality
reckless and resolved
undaunted by denuded doubts,
found herself headlong
in a hurricane of heartache,
She also found wherewithal
in the whirlwind,
realized that honesty is the remedy
for a puzzled personality,
She awoke from the storm
youthful, beautiful,
in true form...

The Venus Tree
Denuded by the wind and rain
A tree without its bark stands
Dead but rooted still.
Its limbs not fallen off, but sawn.
As headless as a Grecian statue is.
A sun bleached desert tan
With arbitrary swirls of gray.
This driftwood’s half a continent away
From either ocean’s seething waves.
Woodpeckers have hammered out
Whatever’s left of life inside.
How can so dead a thing, be this sensual?
More erotic than a tree
Has decently a right to be....

The Angst of Night
Oh Lord, wouldst thou abandon me
my dirty hands besmirched with tears
trembling ‘mid a tortured truth
encased in walls of man made fears.
Would you pass judgment on the man
denuded of his soul
condemn the pieces of his life
denying he is whole.
Oh Lord, recant this heresy,
forgive such men their failing sight
do slowly in their darkest hour
lead them through the angst of night.

Moonlight Moment
Goblet of moonlight overflowed
Spilling glow, dusting ground
Spread over deep winter forest
Creating oasis fey folk found.
Moonbeams hang on denuded trees
Magical warmth spreads its glow
Forest creatures for one short hour
Join fairy folk in happy tableaux.
Enchantment fades it will not last
Winter will not be usurped this way
Silence so cold all creatures depart
Memory savored until spring day.

Palm Tree Sonnet
Stiff pleated fronds in concert rise
to wax under the April sun
and trill their canticles begun
in verses jade that they comprise.
Chartreuse of thorny branches splay
a tumult to belie the grace
that on display they interlace
like rose stems on a breezeless day.
Atop the thatched denuded bole
gush fountains cast in cardamom,
an opalescent diadem
that glistens on the mossy knoll.
In thus exuberant array
do cloistered peacocks mime ballet.

Ripples Turn To Waves
Ripples rose on the rhapsody of rolling water,
the dance of the dulcet ardor performed
in the lonesome sapphire lake
I carved in the oasis of my desolate heart,
where you came flying on wings of desert storm,
blowing the sands of my denuded dunes away.
The placid lake lost all the barriers of time,
and the water gushed out in emotive surge,
the ripples turned into waves in my heart.

I Hear the Winter
I hear the winter call my name
in syllables bereft of breeze,
ethereal through silent trees
hypnotic in their leafless maim.
In sheerest blue of morning freeze
the shadows drape from rimy limbs
while through my head a matin swims
that beckons past the boundaries
of culture's polished monotone.
I'd ramble the denuded scape
past hoary waters' icebound gape,
to arcane winds my caution thrown.
Across the dawning's lambent sill
the winter calls. I hear it still....

Sonnet
A Vine in Winter
denuded of foliage
left with the bare essence of my existence
a gnarled unassuming frame
from which new life will burst forth in spring
firmly anchored in fertile soil
the terroir for the vineyard
selected with care
basking in the watery winter sun
incapable of turning my head for the best aspect
consoling myself with the fact
that my tender tri-lobed leaves
will harvest the energy from the sun
but for now,
I content myself
to relish the well-deserved rest
...

The Blues
The Blue
This day so restless and sad no, not the day
The sadness rests in me this unhappiness that will
Last for days a holler into darkness
A bus that never stops outside my home doomed
To see it through a dirty window
And I`m overcome by the pointlessness of my
And humanities existence we lost out way to
The land ease and contentment and so it must be
The seasons get shorter and shorter. And the old
Tree`s denuded branches stretched heavenward
Dumb and useless....

Blank verse
Winter Bestows
First sight of fallen white virgin snow
Tats lace patterns on window panes
Grandma's breakfast stirs the house.
Wood burning flames chatter
In the old fireplace.
Festive winter
Children take
In its
Lace.
Charm
World cloak
In loose flakes.
Tinsel snowman,
Red Birds rustle the
Winter evergreens, and
Denuded trees by the front
Open porch greeting passersby.
Sun melts deep, shadows seize a cold night.
