Eternal Timber
The Cross is our crutch: we are lamed and maimed,
Crippling sin in our soul,
Defiled and scourged, our faith defamed,
Golgotha our gloried goal.

The Cross is a bludgeon for smiting down
Death in his sable gown.
It’s Roman-hewn and Jesus-borne,
Encircled with blood-flecked thorn....

Heart Robbers
Heart robbers
Chasing after fine brothers,

Prior to a valentine arrival,
This elfin figure had no rival.
Hobgoblins are hobnobbing again
Playing games for a heart to sprain
Plastic surgeons with harpoons and weapons
To bludgeon emotions for coupons, sine qua non.
But this gossamer heart’s gone to bed, futon anon!

Heart robbers,
Costumed as fine brothers....

Invictus
Bind my hands
Shackle my feet
Rain lashes on my body
Prick, prod, impale and crucify
You can impound my freedom
You can bludgeon me bloody...

Still, I stand tall
Proud, unbowed,
My spirit is yet free
I am yet, the master of my soul!

(Inspired by W.E. Henley's Invictus)

A Surgeon and a Church Fight
Over square miles a unique surgeon
In the West African sub-region:
Clearly,the tower in their region;
Names of the other knives in dungeon...

"Daddy, will I ever be like John
Now and again in Germany's Bonn ?"
But surgeon is facing religion
And religion: "I'll defeat you, John:
For you,surely,coming with legion,
Which shall never fail to you bludgeon"
It's surgery for delivery
To The Church's Christ's needless mockery....

The Renovator
Mega-buck ideas
are followed by sledge hammer schemes,
foundations and roof stripped
to the studs.

A posse of hard hats are bent on obeying
her every command & whim
as they knock through walls,
bludgeon bathrooms into submission.

She has added me to her do-over list.
I am being up-graded
into something way less comfortable.
It seems I don't fit-in nor match
and the testy visionary regards me
as far too shaggy to live here.

I’m having a dog house
built for myself....

Rough Water
The river is smooth, quiet, and serene.
Our fishing boat is at one with the flow.
Years from now I'll remember this scene
And wish it were like the life I would know.

But that isn't the nature of this estate.
Boulders may bludgeon at every turn.
Debilitating illness may strike early or late.
Rough water tells me I am here to learn.

Problems then are mortality's tool
To form and fashion the person to be.
They take us to the hard-knocks school
To prepare us for life's squally sea....

Eternal
Eternal

Echo the words of an eternal angel
And seeps into my minds eye
The truth you seek is deep inside
Tomorrow you wake with new born eyes
She smiled as if to say goodbye.

I dreamt that night of fearless men
Who fought a war then died at end
The bloodied cleaves of swords bludgeon all intend
I walk away from the battlefield soulless and without a friend
I could only see blood war cannot justify or eternal angel mend.

Today I wake with new born eyes
Eternal angel heaven sends....
