Switzerland is hit

Devestation by the mountain, a warning now to all.'
Life is fragile.' Who can know.? Or avert when such a disaster
Decides to fall.?

Shadow

I felt you
avert your eyes
cool
as the shadow
cast upon my face
when a cloud
crosses the sun

We Walk

We walk.
We walk past,
and we walk by.
Eyes alert,
ready to avert.
Blind to
the man on the grate.
Wizened man,
seeking warmth,
in our midst,
separated by the stigma of his stench.

The Search For Intelligent Life

Scanning the sky, searching for intelligent life
seeking creatures who wish to live, not die

Finding earth, advanced civilizations gape in disbelief
~ avert their eyes, stricken with grief

I Talk To the Birds

My wife and I sometimes have words But I never get to use mine, so I talk to the birds It's a little known fact Intelligence they don't lack And as long as I feed them, arguments we avert

It's a Trap

Watch out, don't spell “part” backward, it's a “trap” Many men have succumbed, ended with a lawsuit in their lap We must stay alert Such trickery to avert Whether part or trap, it's a costly handicap

Car Crash

Smell the burning rubber.
Hear the screeching tyre.
Watch in awe as the wheels fly off
and the chassis catches fire.
Then avert your eyes.
Say your au revoir.
The casualties are packed in tight
Limp inside the car.

Vanity

Gaze is hidden in shadows
Shimmering off a shallow sea
Eyes cannot avert
Like honey on the tongue
Hard candy sucked to a sheen
Warm flow covering a gravelly bottom
Cannot soften the core
Vanity is all that is offered

Ignis Fatuus

Indigence and torch light might be beguiling to a visitor
When he aches for his anguish to deter
Chase tension and scrutiny avert
Yet enduringly rubbing shoulders with them hurts
Amounts to additional burdens and strains exerts.

Broken

The reminder, the shattering of my drinking
 glass
This put paid to my sleep as a
 gloss
It was only the relationship that was
 broken
Though my heart had me earlier
 fortoken
I have since gathered myself to avert more
 loss

Soul Gravity

Listen to poem:

                _________________________________________

finally reached
your sensitive soul
gravity pulled us down
fate tore us apart
we wrapped our love in foil
to avert its spoil

Mortal Touch

I think of you often.
In the morning, late at night,
but those thoughts go unvoiced,
the mortal touch goes unfelt.

It’s easier to keep to myself,
to avert my gaze deliberately.
it’s safer to keep ravenous.
It’s simpler to bamboozle with silence.

Breathe Through It

A young woman had a panic attack
A side effect of British Railways
My wife and I went to her aid
But I struggled to avert my gaze
From her heaving chesticles
“Big breaths” my wife instructed her
I was still staring at her puppies, said
“No, but beautifully pert would be fare”

Hijack

Hijack

Strategy employed in a hijack
You cannot tell or crack
Each time, new clever tricks
That are a plus to statistics!
Criminals, they say, are ahead
Is it not alertness that is dead?

Mistrust even your shadow
And avert this baleful blow!!

To the Lord of the World

Your world is only dirt and hurt. Nothing more can I assert.
Another Bontsha the Silent,* from it my life I avert.
1.19.2022

* Read the short story "Bontsha the Silent" by Issac Leib Peretz to realize what you do to one another so that you may find salvation!

Heart Broken

The reminder, waking me from
my reverie, the shattering of the
 cup of glass
This put paid to my revered sleep
 as a gloss
It was only the relationship that
  was broken
Even though my heart ?? had
  me earlier for token
I have since gathered my self to
 avert more loss.

Nosedive

I have crashed! Oh, God, alas!
A nosedive straight into the dirt-
To the center of the Earth,
But the High was worth the hurt...
Though my Hopes were deeply dashed,
Though my Dreams unduly smashed,
My Life before my eyes has flashed-
No time to change, to quell- avert!
(And no more strength left to exert)

Passion of Love

I AM IN THE RACE
VERY EAGER TO SEE THE FACE
DIFFICULTY AVERT ME TO WAVE THE CHASE
DISBELIEF CONFUSE ME TO ABHOR THE TRACE
BUT PASSION OF LOVE GIVE ME THE PACE

THE WILL OF MAN LESS FADE
BATTLING UP HIS SPADES
CALLED JOURNEY THAT REPEATS GRADES
TWINKLING STARS BRIGHTENING MADE
THE PASSION OF LOVE REVEALS THE MAID

If You Do Not Wish To See Me Naked Avert Your Eyes Now

I enjoy walking in the rain,
I enjoy wet
much like men do, yet do not love it
sorry mother- I’m being vulgar again- avert
your eyes now, dear sweet innocent thing
for I did not come from rain but pure man-made sunshine, yes?
The cogs and bolts of it all, no cinnamon red
just the grey, in which you dressed yourself.

The splintering sound, the shattering
      of my drinking glass
This put paid to my sleeping beauty as
      gloss
But it was only my relationship that was
      poorly broken
Even though my heart had me earlier
      fortoken
But I have since gathered myself to avert
      more loss

This Red Skin

This red skin, whipped by the harshest wintry wind,
feels colder than the snow of Iceland;
wry thoughts on a gelid night
won't relieve my plight!
January
flee,
don't disagree!
Running and panting
to avoid an avalanche crumbling,
I take giant steps to avert danger...
while this red skin burns deeper than my anger!

Tempest 2

Seagulls cast aquarium swirls
Translucent panacea coats the day
Cloudy church ammonites lear
A child within a Man
has choices to make
he is hastened by the wind
Cold Waterfalls
with Autumn Wheat chaff
Put your best foot forward
Unwrap your plans
To touch the earth
and see the fathoms glow
Avert your glance
to the unsprung mile

Tears Flow Like a River

Tears flow like a river when I am mad I don’t know why, being mad does hurt Intense pain always makes me very sad Tears flow like a river when I am mad Or when someone I love treats me bad It’s the kind of thing I try hard to avert Tears flow like a river when I am mad I don’t know why, being mad does hurt.

Certain Things

Certain things must stay
under lock and key.
No one wants to know
who persecuted me.

Like a car crash or disaster,
we avert our eyes.
Must not lift the lid
on all those lies.

Bury hurt of twenty years
deep inside my heart.
Thought talking about it
would be a start.

Certain things must stay
under lock and key.
No one wants to know
who persecuted me.
