Twitter Abuzz

Twitter was abuzz all night
at the breakdown of the right

in the morning aught was left
Who had played his cards so deft?

Love Is My New Drug

Love is
my new drug
it
seeped inside
my blood
and
permeated
my lungs
now
I'm all
thumbs
and
can't feel
my tounge
Should
I be
catching doves
or
running through
the slums
alit
and all abuzz?

(Work in progress)

Sexy Wasp

She is much sexier than the queen
The hive was all abuzz
This Marilyn Monroe-like wasp
Was the woman that never was.

The drones almost stopped working
When sexy wasp came into the hive
I think several of them passed out
At last count it was eighty-five

Chit Chattering

music in the trees
gossips teem in green bowers
marigolds abuzz

cracker butterflies
among burgundy roses
twittering away

hollyhocks abuzz
with news of the honeybee
such blues pinks and blacks

crickets go screaming
near the endless babbling brook
in the orange dusk

Green Screen Door

Green Screen Door

There’s something about
Green screen doors
Conjuring past summers
The why
I’m not sure

Swing bang shut
Bent out screen
Surrounded
By wood
All painted in green

Brings back
Kook-Aid
The bees all abuzz
Mingled with flowers
And Aunt Martha’s fudge

A Tiara and Wings

In a tiara and wings
Zigging
Zagging
Bounding with being
I am a queen
Doing that little dance
That tells you
Everywhere I've been
Abloom
Abuzz
Bathing in
The pollen of play
Lapping up life
Nectaring
Dripping
Coiling to spring

You wouldn't know it
By looking at me
But I can fly!

And then comes the sting

Honeybee

honeybee
by Michael R. Burch

love was a little treble thing?
prone to sing
and sometimes to sting

Hope

Hope is like a hummingbird
Or so some people say
And one appeared without a word
On this eve of New Year's Day

A glimmer, green, on wings abuzz
Hovered at my window
As sure a sign as ever was
Like last week's Christmas rainbow

And though these small things can't undo
The pain this year has wrought
The hope within me burns anew
A feeling long forgot.

Humanity

A consortium of souls,
As bold as the new age,
Abuzz with ferverous purpose,
Attack their work until it yell play,
Asked to stay not longer than energy permit,
And yet energy submits itself like the sun,
Abundant and nourishing with uncompromising focus,
Align themselves with perfect chaos to produce progress in any form,
Ablazed with myriad rewards yet driven by one; to be alive.

Garden Is Abuzz

Garden holds her breath as dragonfly magically appears. The flowers begin tittering, hoping he is coming to visit them. Her counterpart damselfly lands on a tea rose, who is feeling smug all of two seconds before they both flit off again.

                              her cellophane wings
                         the whole garden is abuzz
                                    dragonfly visit

Falling Apart

How am I falling apart?
Did I abuse my own heart?
abuse my own?
What is my art?
Push the start
Push mom's shopping cart.
My past is a blur
It seems almost absurd
How beautiful my childhood was
In contrast to the dreadful feeling
of the present abuzz. about. surrounding.
I want to step out of this vicious ring.
I want to sing a new song
I hope it doesn't take too long
till I can sing my new song.

The Cemetery Is Alive

The cemetery is alive
With freshly cut mums and poinsettias.
Gathering people make it even more abuzz.

A crisp wind blows
Over each receding blade of grass –
Slowly turning them the color of brass.

A handful of tombstones –
Sun-dappled underneath oak trees –
Are scratched by fallen amber leaves.

The crucifixion mound
Overlooking it inspires the Christmas spirit
Within the hearts of those who visit.

Once Were

Once were dinners a'deux, you see,
Was it only a few months, or a century?
Once were schools abuzz with kids,
Teachers agog to see what did they did,
Once were universities,
Alive with youthful dreams, indeed,
Once were pubs with beers,
Once were football here,
These are viral times, my dears,
Once were bushfires too,
A horror story for me and you,
Yes, Stephen King wrote this year,
Once were Oz fun times, not fears!

The Secret Source

artesian well
gush and flow of thirsty love
his Banyan soul rejoiced
new trunks from his psyche
sprouting
arching,bridging the gaps
between synapses
chemical bees abuzz
with words of love
he ,a forest of one
she,his indigo lagoon
mystifying
answering
deep
she hidden in his roots
he,reaching for the sun
for all to see
roosting the colored birds
of poems ripen in his leaves
indigo blue as their source
picked and shared by all

I Picked up My Ears

     Airplanes scream overhead
Lawn mowers abuzz on the ground
     Traffic streams endlessly by
       drowning out nature's intentions
       all of her creatures’ sounds...

One lonely night in the country
I picked up my weary ears
       things soddenly sounded just right

     Whistling and chirping
     Mating calls of birds
     A pond come alive
       something forgotten in me
       had stirred

Summer Evening

Ice cream in hand
I let my hair fly
in warm summer breeze
It’s nine in the night
The sun witnesses
folks walking their dogs
dads pushing strollers
kids riding bikes
or shooting hoops
runners pushing hard
neighborhoods abuzz
with excited life
Then I think
the same hour
in winter
So dark and lonely
with no signs of life
And I walk some more
Then sit in the porch
to watch the sun set

The Jews Harp

if aromatic, can your sound
adrift on wings like strings to sing
by tongue and some from lighted tops
of cloud aloud let fly, let fly
o solitary eagle soaring high
these aromatic overtones
of demon groans to bees abuzz
on petal roams and onto tombs
of night in flight to morning’s dew
harmonic rhythms meditate
the late, the new, the cycle through
sweet realm of realms, mine avenue
and though her breath is my breath too
the key, like she, can bloom

That's Why I Love Showers

thoughts afloat, words sailing
the minute I step into a warm shower
eyes drip vision, mind abuzz stories
world suddenly clearer than water

no distraction to sway, no tricks to play
no soul calling my name that time
moments of solitude and introspection
to conjure and imagine lines that rhyme

times I step in with rocks in head and heart
emerge anew light as a dove’s feather
puzzles that keep me up all night
find lucid answers in clouds of vapor.

The World Cup

The world's abuzz with soccer
Though I couldn't give a hoot.
I wouldn't even have a clue
For which team I should root.

The bars are packed with rousing fans;
I don't begrudge their cheers,
But I prefer a tennis match
To savor with my beers.

I'd also watch the Yankees play
'Cause baseball's what I know,
Though baseball-haters claim the game's
Inordinately slow.

So while the teams do battle
With the World Cup as the prize,
I'll find a book or other show
To occupy my eyes.

How My Dogs Greet the Morning

Early in the morning
Everybody is yawning
I hear my dogs bark
But still it is so. Dark
The light slowly arrives
The city comes alive
My dogs r abuzz wth delight
O god wat is the matter wth my dogs
Shout their names
They will follow ur trail
Throw them a ball
They will create a brawl
O wat a chirpy set
R my lovely pets
They wake up wth wagging tails
For them. Mornings beauty never fails
I think here lies a lesson for one n all
No one greets the morning as grateful ly as a dog.
