Borrow 17-12-2023

Borrow a lantern from the endless road
to illuminate the dance of a pair of shadows.
Borrow the sun from a summer's evening
to bask in its apricity in a winter meadow.
Borrow an antediluvian creek with a thousand twists and turns
to carry the flickering beacon of hope to a clandestine tryst.
Borrow a melodious tune from the bygone days
to softly sing what time has ripped away.

Borrow the stars from a distant constellation
to decorate the noctivagant nights of separation.
Borrow the refulgent moon from a lunar festival
to adorn the blackest twilights with cosmic ensemble.
Borrow moments from the the elusive clock's embrace
to connect the dots of memories that won't efface.

Those silhouettes separated by the wind said they loved too shallow.
Those figures drenched in rain said they do not fear the cold.
Those burning on the pyre said they do not fear pain.
Those drowning in the sand said they would never suffocate.
How many souls will the boundless storm hold?
How many lives will this ring of fate control?

But there is always trust that the wind cannot break,
always tears that the rain cannot wash away.
There are always ashes that the fire cannot dissipate,
always determination that the Earth cannot enslave.
At the opposite ends of a rainbow,
two unforgetting ghosts.

Borrow the paradise from a far-off utopia
to lend them a life of eternal happiness.
Even if we shall be in timeless debt.
