On Listening To Phil Ochs

Died young 
yet his songs 
          remain 
          behind
   He sang about 
the poor 
         and he 
sang for America
"Here is a Land full of power and glory"
was the way he put it
he sang for the labor movement 
   in "The Chain"
He was not loved by all
   yet his work is a part 
of 
American 
history 
He lives on in his recordings 
    and in the soul of 
this fantastic experiment 
   we call AMERICA
