Verse]
In the shadows of the city lights,
I wear the weight of another sleepless night,
Bills piled high like mountains now,
And empty promises, I take a bow.
You left us stranded, no one to blame,
But I’ll light the fire, ignite the flame.
My son’s an inventor, only eight years old, bold,
His sister draws dreams in colors untold.
[Chorus]
So we rise, we’ll fight,
Out of darkness, into the light.
With candles burning, and hearts that shine,
We’ll rewrite our story, it’ll take some time.
Though you turned your back, we’re standing tall,
Together we’re stronger, we’ll never fall.
[Verse]
Days filled with smoke, escape from the grind,
In the haze of the night, I leave pain behind.
Crafting dreams with hands calloused and worn,
A tiny empire built from love reborn.
You thought you could break us, but you just pushed me free,
Now we’re thriving in colors, wild and carefree.
[Chorus]
So we rise, we’ll fight,
Out of darkness, into the light.
With candles burning, and hearts that shine,
We’ll rewrite our story, it’ll take some time.
Though you turned your back, we’re standing tall,
Together we’re stronger, we’ll never fall.
[Bridge]
Laughing at your memory, with my best friend by my side,
You thought I’d drown in sorrow, but I learned how to ride.
Every tear became a lesson, every bruise a badge of pride,
We’ll write our own fate—no fear left inside.
[Chorus]
So we rise, we’ll fight,
Out of darkness, into the light.
With candles burning, and hearts that shine,
We’ll rewrite our story, it’ll take some time.
Though you turned your back, we’re standing tall,
Together we’re stronger, we’ll never fall.
Alone I sat on the wet sands,
Of the Sernabatim beach lands.
The sun reflected blue sky,
On the greenish grey waters it looked so dry.
My inner face I saw on the bed in the sweltering sunny afternoon,
With the heat and shock I began to swoon.
Alone, I moved myself towards my inner face lying on the warm sandy bed, the into the waters warm,
The breaking waves look to me like many a headless limp form.
Warm waters I sense splash unto my waist,
Cool salty breeze sting my moist lips and chest, sweat erased.
The frothy waters seem so white,
Feral imagination within me is beginning to run regressive and makes me feel all right.
Alone I am rooted on the sandy shore,
Now,I have within me, coming to the fore,
Feelings… deep feelings inside ignite,
Need to hold on to them tight,
The feelings incite,
A poem in my mind’s eye I feel and now see, that I would have to write,
Without any spite.
Alone, I am in the waters warm,
The breaking waters pass over my inner face and lash against me and quickly change form,
To myself feelings that turn to spirity words I begin to recite,
As I cast my eyes on my inner face lying on the warm bed and from within springs delight,
And in its own right,
The poem begins to rewrite.
Alone, I am in the waters warm,
My feelings have begun to rewrite,
In my mind without any spite,
I am now filling myself with delight,
As expression is flowing freely in its own right,
And will transcend on to paper in black and white.
Alone, I now sit, drenched,
To the sands entrenched.
Melts the noon,
And evening falls attune,
The sun reflected blue sky,
Has now swooned away as to my inner face I turn a blind eye.
Alone, I now sit, drenched,
Content in me and with no feelings wrenched.
Gratified….soothened…satisfied…pleased,
Relaxed…happy….at ease and contented……eased.
What seemed to all a ghastly inner face,
Now to me is full of grace.
Parts in me lack comforting
it...
gets tougher every day
To rewrite all of our fumbling
in...
each and every way
Suspended in suffering
while...
drowning in sorrows wake
Shattered pieces float atop the pain
on...
this pathetic lake

In the spirals of our ancient code lie secrets
No pill boasts on its glossy label:
We are the cradle of the human genome,
Yet our maps remain blank in global trials.
Test tubes filled with our diaspora’s pulse
Are left untouched—ignored by profit’s design.
Prescription after prescription fails us,
Side by side with miracles elsewhere.
Tell me, Western pharmacopeia,
Why ship drugs proven blind to our cells?
Why let our hearts suffer, our livers wear thin,
While your profit margins bloom?
This is not science—it’s a crime cloaked in white coats,
A quiet genocide as lethal as any missile.
Colonial bias got a new skin—it wears lab coats now,
And it bleeds through African veins still uncounted.
To the leaders in ivory towers of a broken state:
Your silences echo louder than your oaths.
You sold your people’s trust
For crumbs from foreign tables.
But we—the children of a thousand tribes—
We are rising not in whispers, but in fire.
Your puppetry ends where our voices begin:
We will build our industries, staff our labs,
And chart every strand of our DNA.
Pharma’s blood stained on our histories,
Indicted by our silence no longer.
We demand justice, recall every flawed pill,
And rewrite the code of care in our own image.
For if medicine cannot learn our language,
Then it shall learn our resistance:
Made in Africa, by Africans, for Africans—
No more sacrifices for their sterile profit.
"I Wish I Never Failed in Love"
In the realm of heartbeats, I lost my way
A path that wound through love's disarray
If I had one more wish, I'd undo the pain
Erase the scars, rewrite love's stained refrain
A tragic ending, where love went astray
I thought I was special, but faded away
A good man turned cold, a heart turned to stone
The evil I despised, became my own
I wish I never fell, never dove so deep
Never surrendered to love's deceiving sleep
I wish I could forget, before heartbreak's might
Raped our free will, and extinguished love's light
In the shadows of what could've been
I search for solace, a love unseen
One wish remains, to turn back time
Rewrite our story, rekindle love's divine
But alas, memories linger, a bittersweet refrain
Reminding me of love's irreparable stain
Yet still I hold on, to love's pure flame
Hoping someday, love's beauty will reign.
This poem maintains the original message and emotion, with adjustments for rhythm, flow, and poetic clarity.
Would you like any modifications or changes?
Pillow thoughts cloud my mind
Is life meant to be solo?
No matter who you surround yourself with-
You’re sure to feel alone
Feel the cold
the damp cold floor,
This thing we called life-
It’s a scam
If I could rewrite every chapter, every page,
I would.
I would for my own sanity.
The truth is;
Life neglects all things-
We’re all born to die
and yet
We run around keeping busy,
Staying distracted from our fate
No one makes it out alive-
So why do stresses define us
It’s a sick joke,
Something so obvious it stings-
Like a spider bite.
The itch that never really goes away-
Whether it’s the placebo effect
Or the reminder that we are all equals.
We are all ending up buried in the earth
We are only destined to live and die-
Our obsessions we call stress
And inconsistent believes-
Are only going to drive us one way, one direction
How I used to care for this finely beautiful gate, once!
Couldn't ever see it rusty, dingy, dusty, dirty;
Creaking of this gate left me psychically in a dunce,
I sandpapered; cleansed; oiled; kept it gold-shiny and flirty...!
This old rusty gate now retells within many stories:
Stories of our union; innocent children-communion;
Stories of progress in all glorious territories;
Stories of rise and fall and separation and union...!
How death of dear ones leaves one's existence absurd and void!
The old rusty gate now revealed to my neighbors, common;
My sadness, emptiness, dankness, loneliness and schizoid,
And announced: though I was alive: R.I.P. with Brahman...!
I should, though late, renovate this old precious rusty gate,
Relish my memories till I live and rewrite my fate...!!!

poof. I feel your color. you ignite me. you chastise me. my vulnerability is humiliating. breathing such humid air is humiliating. and poof. here you are. where you have always been. the differences. and the distances. fighting demons. sleeping in your favorite denim. morning grew dim until it was the heart of night. the deepest, truest, purest words I had ever written. I now rewrite. I must rewrite. I must confess. I must write. I'm confused. emotionally constrained. oh. The pain. but I found solace. In you. In outter space. we held hands. and floated right away. you kissed me. right away. I kissed the cosmos. existing. In your smile. I felt warm. I smiled. I feel warm. For once, I smiled. I feel at home. Right away. Well, that's how I felt. Finding forever. You gave me courage. To be free. poof. poof. Freedom. A melody. And what if I tell you. [now]. How I feel. Disappear into the morning sun. The moon is mourning the morning sun. A morning run. I crave more morning sun. I bask in your sunset. I can't watch our favorite movie. The mourning is done. I can taste your regret. I am on the run. And yet. It's morning. you move me. You stopped me. You dug. deeper. into me. You chased me. You sought me. Igniting me. And rewriting me. Changing me. And Reshaping me. Who I am. Recreating me. All that I was meant to be. and making me. Breathing. Breathing into me. You. You know. You must be beautiful. The stakes must be high. Hello. Hi. How far will these colors go. Blues. Greens. Purples. May I go with you. Cobalt blues. Sea greens. Magentas. Turquoise. Emerald. Sapphire. Poof. Poof. Move me. the differences. the distances. the places. the people. I can no longer distinguish. But I feel color, Mister...
The Builder
If it does not bite you at the end of each breath,
Then I will start again and again
And I will rewrite it, all over again.
Do it all again; pretend we are friends.
I never claimed to believe in anything ‘real’.
These lips are sealed to forever lovers.
I wish I had never gone undercover.
In my happy disguise, I find truth within eyes.
I fixate on the page, the place, the way
And someday I will find a place where I can truly say,
‘I love you’, and mean it;
But this is neither the time, nor the day.
I have dagger eyes upon me.
Always waiting for a new surprise.
They are hoping for a slip of the tongue;
Waiting for me to mention drugs,
Waiting with the desert dogs,
But I have nothing more to say,
About what I have, or have not done.
You pick your truth as I live in peace,
With decisions I have made.
I made no choice, for I have no choice.
Some might say I lead the way;
Some might say,
All things are already set in stone.
Rock steady is the path I walk along.
Destiny is self-assured,
For I have never found a cure,
To all the hurt in my own world,
So I will never reach a day,
Where I no longer need to build.

If no one has ever told you dear friend,
You possess a depth of beauty
That’s unequivocal to anything or anyone
Ever before seen or ever will again.
These are not mere words to satisfy
The hunger your soul searches for
But rather, the simple truth that we
Are all made from the imaginings of
An Unimaginable Mind
Brought forth out of the fullness
Of His loving grace and
Eternally timeless time.
We are all One of a KIND-
Hearted Being, all seeing and yet
Freeing when we aren’t afraid to look
Upon ourselves in a looking glass;
And I merely wanted to remind you again
That You, Me, I, We possess
A depth of beauty now
That will always last.
Longer than after we’ve had our fill of
Buildings and bridges turned to rust;
And longer perhaps than even after we collapse
And our dry bones turn to dust.
Beauty is the magic ingredient
Making us the magnificantly mysterious humans who
Love, honor, cherish, lift up,
Illuminate and polish everything inside
And out until it shines...Beauty and love
Are what make us in the image of
The One to whom we climb.
