What Democracy
Democracy, in Britain is nothing but a lie.
From the dictionary the word should be deleted
Whilst democracy’s the slogan that politicians cry
The majority of us feel that we’ve been cheated
With political correctness forced upon us every day
Just in case the casual word may cause offence
If you have a strong opinion be careful what you say
Even though you may be talking perfect sense
When we joined the E.E.U. I’m sure we took the view
It would give a larger market for our trade
Yet now our mighty nation has a legal obligation
To abide by regulations Brussels made
The referendum was denied, the politicians lied
These decisions were decided by the few
It was no doubt understood, M.Ps thought it would be good
With a total disregarding of our view
MP’s pull out all the stops to try to fill our shops
With G.M foods that we don’t want to eat
Whilst cameras check our speed on roads where there’s no need
We’d be better off with coppers on the beat
If when confronted by a crook you land a good right hook
You may think that he deserved it, it’s his fault
When he is on probation you’ll be locked up down the station
To appear before a jury for assault
When travellers leave a mess, you’d be spot on if you guess
That authorities will turn an eye that’s blind
Yet drop a *** end in the street and before it hits your feet
You will get an instant ticket and be fined
If asylums what you seek and English you can’t speak
Benefits are paid for your welfare
But if your British and your old, your property is sold
To pay for any time you are in care
If you chastise your child, because he has run wild
That law will on your collar give a tug
For no matter what you say, do-gooders rule the day
Even though the child may grow into a thug
In the interest of fair play referendums are the way
The majority decide just where we go
We shouldn’t change our laws or take part in futile wars
To massage a political ego
When we are due a big election, parties vie for our affection
Promising the things they have in store
It fair gives us the hump, they should take a running jump
They must realise we’ve heard it all before.
It is hard to understand who governs our fair land
Or who it is that makes up all our rules
Our politicians bore us, or totally ignore us
Democracy in Britain! It’s for fools!!.

democracy may look to some, to seem
a hell of a way to run a government
can two parties be on the same team?
that it works at all is a wonderment
what rancor could be made of this?
this would pass for a party plank
be it elephant's or a donkey's to kiss
it's squeaky wheels we have to thank
we engage in rhetoric harsh to prove
our point is the truth or so we say,
so take your firm stance, and move!
be it right or left, the other way
we're gonna block your filly buster!
horse tradin' is 'fer checkin' teeth
uncompromisin' deals pass 'fer muster
some party's purpose is to deceive
our founding fathers, gentlemen all
taught that with good speaking skills
our House divided can not fall?
it's Senate's turn to pass some bills
our leaders are honest ones, with ability
vision for the nations future direction
turn this ship with statesmen's civility
to please citizenry's best cross section
yet with serious tone of impending disaster
if esteemed colleagues should get their say
they speak to press with sound bites faster
to sway opinion polls, today's power play
the whole process makes the thoughtful wonder
about the ability of political men to work
for their point to prove, and pull asunder
national harmony, as we all go berserk
democracy may look to some, to seem
a hell of a way to run a government
two parties can be on the same team,
as compromise doesn't breed discontent
to know political relations are symbiotic
the nature of democracy is a bit chaotic

dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Is it all for nothing?
We may never know
Does it really make you stronger?
Or more painful and slow
Should we really believe?
Or is it a waste of time?
These horrible things that happen
How evil can really shine
I thought good conquered bad
But,not these days
maybe its our fault
Our being is such a maze
Life is so scary
Death has got to be an ease
I fear everyday
And I'm sick of begging please
Stop the hunger, why all the hate?
Stop the greed
What exactly will it take?
Severe weather, economy and crime
When will we learn?
And is it just a matter of time?
The world has ended 5 times before, who is to say when
I choose to fight, not for me, but for the children
On the other hand,
Do we want them to know what we have built here
Beacuse, personally I am ashamed
Greed, scandals, looks and material things are no longer tamed
Yes we are the land of the free
But, I truly feel it is costing me
My morals, my beliefs and what I hold deer
In 5, 10 years may no longer be here
Yes we are the land of opportunity
But is it really for us?
Or is it for those of conveinous
Those we have hurt and try to regain
Trust that was never there and will never retain
How can we make it right?
We are so backwards and upside down
This is with with me day and night
This is my constant sound

Alas, I see the proposed federal budget has hit the press.
I suppose its loaded with the usual absurd largesse!
Gleeful solons elbowin' others at the trough gittin' their share,
At the same time promisin' us the budget they will pare!
Seems that legislators think that cash flow is never-endin',
And just go on dreamin' up schemes for inane spendin'.
It has been said that you can't fight Capitol Hill alone,
So I'm joinin' in the fray, offerin' asinine proposals of my own!
I want a study to see, that if all the sponges were taken from the seas,
Would the water level rise or recede by some few degrees?
Millions could be spent to study flies as they soar on the level,
Then, how they suddenly land on the ceiling as quick as the devil!
'Twould be intriguin' to teach cassowaries and penguins how to fly.
To fund this, money from medicare could be diverted on the sly!
We need a million dollar pogo stick racin' track in my hometown.
Never mind that it would have irate taxpayers jumpin' up and down!
Now I don't mind payin' taxes and donatin' my fair share,
But I do mind how my money is spent, I do loudly declare!
Havin' proffered the above schemes, I may come to begrudge it.
Some politicos may read this and include them in next year's budget!

People are so easily offended today
This is quite ironic really
As due to political correctness
We are censored so heavily
And with all the sanitising
There is so little opportunity
But those who do take offence
Fall into three distinct categories
Firstly, the genuinely offended
Those who feel the detriment,
Whose opinion is seldom heard
Unless it’s politically expedient
Second, the white middle class heterosexuals
Who like to be offended on others behalf
And are particularly suspicious
At anything that gets a laugh
Thirdly, come the professionals
Those who get offended for a living
They frequent the morning TV sofas
And are relentlessly unforgiving
The professionals feel no offence
But find their roles financially fulfilling
They will take umbrage for anyone
Just to earn another shilling
Even worse however is anticipated offence
Those who want to act just in case
Some unspeakable offence may be caused
If things are unchanged or left in place
The original intention may well have been
That a better society was planned
But what they have managed to do instead
Is to make the world more bland
