Premium Member What a Friend Should Be (A Tribute To John Barns)

My friend John Barnes is as special as can be.
When it comes to friends God sure blessed me.

There are some things we lose, while others we win.
Some games we play lead us into sin.

I’ve have been lucky enough without any doubt.
I have a friend who always helps me out.

He drove across the state to find me on the roam.
Said, “get into the car I’m taking you home.”

He never once asked for a thing or questioned me.
I reckon that’s how a good friend should be.

We worked together off and on, our entire life.
I’m on number eight, John’s with the same wife.

John and Lisa have most certainly had their fights.
In the end they always do what is right.

Work it out, stay together, never giving up.
Realizing they already have a full cup.

They have raised all their kids, which should include me.
I reckon that’s how a parent should be.

John’s not really my dad but he is my brother.
He’s a friend to the end like no other.

A perfect example of what a friend should be.
That’s what John Barnes has always been for me.

From the start of the game to the end of the show,
John’s been the friend who has never let go.

He has stood by my side through thick and thin.
I’m very proud to be a friend to him.

Through the love of my friend I was able to see.
This is exactly what a friend should be.

You guys know that twinkle that you see in a star.
When it comes to life that’s what good friends are.

John Barn's is my best friend. Him and I met in the Oilfields outside
of Bakersfield where he still resides. We worked together on many
different jobs together over the years operating heavy equipment. I
reckon I was about 20 years old when I first met John and Lisa, his
wife. I haven't had 8 wives but I have 3 had wives and 5 significant
others during the time we have all known each other. I'm very lucky,
as well as, very proud to have had them in my life. We may not be
blood but we are family. Several times in my life they have opened
their home and helped me. Never asking for a thing or questioning my
behavior. Of course, them I would never disrespect. Not even in my worst
days. In fact, I never was a disrespectful or rude person. I just had bad
habits. I wrote this in honor of them but it is how I feel about all of my
friends. You guys all shine in my eyes. God Bless, mj

Premium Member A Wonder - She Is Collaboration With 'Allen Poe'

(A collaboration I wrote with a fellow writer/poet who has not shared his work
previously but gave me permission to share now. We will call him "Allen Poe")

Who is she
I wonder where she's from
On the outside looking in
She looks really young

I wonder
Where she goes for fun
And
If she knows her smile
Can outshine the sun

I wonder
When was the last time
She made a new friend
Strictly platonic
Someone to confide in

I wonder-If she knows
Everything will be alright
I wonder
What kind of plans she has for her life

I wonder
How will she achieve
I wonder
If she believes

I wonder
What she values
I wonder
If she's true blue
I wonder
When she’s feeling weak
Do she have someone to talk 2

I WONDER......

Tag name ~ "Allen Poe"

She is
a reason to wonder
peeking in her life
would make one ponder

She is
aged beyond her 32 years
still full of wonder
nightmares and fears

She is
on the surface
polished and well put together
a wonder she hasn't tarnished
with all she's weathered

She is
a beacon of light
for her children
their life

She is
sometimes guarded and blue
many wondered why
for so long she trusted none
had no one to turn to

She is
broken yet very strong
never to allow
circumstances or wrongs
to break her drive
a wonderful wonder she's alive

She is
open-minded and free
confused about life
her destiny
consumed with pain
yet envisions victory

She is
welcoming and optimistic
sweet and true
she believes
honesty is most critical
in all you do

She is
a friend to all
though all know not
what a friend should be or do

She is a wonder
a reason to wonder
a wonder to see
I wonder if you're wondering
If “She” is me...

A True Friend

some friends come into our life
and some friends go
but Jesus is the best friend that I ever did know
some friends hurt us and lead us to wear a frown
but Jesus is the friend who never lets us down
he's the one who stays with us from dawn till dusk and from dusk till dawn
he's the one who comforts us when we mourn
Jesus is the one who listens to us any time of day
Jesus is the one who is loyal and true in every single way
he is in heart of everything that you do
all for his Love for you
Jesus is the one who makes our life far more worthwhile
he is the one who always makes us smile
Jesus chose to be our friend from the begining of time untill the end
Jesus is and always will be our true friend.

there are friends who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a
brother Proverbs 18 : 24

when my mother and father forsake me then the Lord will take me up pslam 27 : 10

I will not leave you comfortless I will come to you, John 14 :18

right from the begining the Lord chose us, You did not choose me, but I chose you and
appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever
you ask in my name. he will never leave us of forsake us Amen.

Your Still Human

Your delicate skin glistens pale under the sun shining upon you.
Your hair flows down your back in tight curls.
I admire your appearance and everything you do.

so does everyone else...

I have considered you my friend for four years.
I know all your likes, your dislikes and your dreams.
But one thing left unspoken is how you have never wiped away fallen tears.

Bitter and cold you stand by me always.. fearing the thought of being alone.
We never discuss why you keep away so much and shut me out of personal affairs
maybe because you know when the spotlight shines you will lose some of your
tone.

I hate how you judge others but don't consider the judgement they cast upon you.
your little miss perfect in most eyes.
But in front of me your just another fake smile trying to fool those running past you while
your feet are stuck in glue.

You can't move...

You cannot hide any longer. I as your friend have now discovered that you are
scared, you do cry and you have fears.
Now as a friend i shall deny any judgement and wipe away any tears.
I have waited on you to open up your life to me for a few long years.

Lifetime

I watch lifetime movies.
Yeah, unfortunately I must.
And the situations women get themselves in
are full of greed and lust.
It used to seem unrealistic,
an understatement, I know.
But I never thought that same woman
that plays in all those shows,
would turn out to be me.
I'm more of a supportive friend role.
Man, I can't believe I'm writing this poem,
lifetime has really taken it's toll.
So anyway, here's the problem,
first ten minutes, I fell in love.
He was perfect, beauty and brains,
like an angel sent from above.
Next thirty minutes,
there's a new guy next door.
He's a few years younger, kinda cute,
but I can tell he likes me more.
Halfway through the movie,
I'm trying to simply be his friend.
Perfect man is getting suspicious,
leaving me with a relationship to mend.
Guy next door and I are getting close,
I'm starting to like them the same.
Then perfect man catches us in a kiss
and points his finger of blame.
No, no, I'm not that far through the movie.
I'm still stuck between the two.
I think I like them both and my supportive friend sucks
and I just... don't know what to do.

The People In Our Lives

Do you ever wonder how many people are in our lives?
Too many to count, more than the bees in a hive?

Why do they stay?
Why do they come by to play?

Are they hurting or damaged by fate?
Are we still their friends or is it too late?

What makes a friend – a friend to the end?
A friend you can rely on and really depend?

I think it takes courage, courage to let go of your selfish ways.
The kind that makes you Seize The Day!

One that will listen to you, even when you’re wrong.
One that will sing with you on your out of tune song.

A friend that is there, just because.
A friend that doesn’t say anything, just does.

Will drive miles to see your smile.
Only if it is, for a short while.

One that will try to help and protect from lifes dangers
And if there is failure will fight off the anger.

A friend to me is the person, I want to be.
The strength, hope and love they give to me.

So I look around and I think I have found,
My bees in my hive, all movin’ around and dancing to the jive.

Our friends are many, praise the Lord!
For they all love us – all in one accord!

Best Friends

best friends are your life line
they pick you up when your down
and when you feel so lonley
and you cannot make it through
they seem to find your inner strength
that you thought you never knew
just a simple gesture
a touch or a smile
can bring your world together
and make it all worth while

best friends have seen me happy
they've seen me cry in pain
they've seen me reach for heaven
and pray my strength i would gain
and watched a lonely tear fall
as im standing there alone
but i cant hide my feelings
cause a friend knows just the same
i love my friend so dearly
as they comfort me each day

and brings back the inner strength
that helps me on my way
someone you can tell your secrets to
someone that you can confide
so hold your best friend tightly
and never let them go
they are the gift you prayed for
and i love my best friend so

Strange Friend

Strange Friend

A Sudden appearance into my life
That created time unlike the uselessness
It was a feeling so strong
Felt completely like a new bond

At times old
When sounded Bold
Is it true that they are very few
Or We fail to realize that they exist
For us they are new

They seem strange
But they feel old
A strange face
But a feeling bold

A hand always there to hold
Unlike the friend who is old
He also gives you a scold
When you catch a cold

Difficult But true
Strange friends are true

Missing You

MISSING YOU by Robert Allison (May 2000)

On the horizon - the sky is blue,
The warm summer day has a great view.
But down deep inside - my sky is gray,
'Cause my best friend just moved away.
Life without her - I cannot bear,
If only she could be here
If only I could be there.

Ninety miles away, my friend that's where you are.
Such a short distance - yet seems so far.
Can't wait to spend time with my friend,
Only time will tell when I'll see you again.
Will it be days? Or even weeks?
Thinking of you brings tears to my cheeks.

I remember days spent together - just you and me,
Thinking back to these times bring back happy memories.
So until I see you again,
I'll be Missing You
'Cause you're My Best Friend.

Bounce Back

when someone you care for is filled with pain
life beats them again and again
just be there for them whenever they need
a good listener a true friend in deed

my friend has had a horriffic year
she is so kind so loving so sincere
my heart just aches for her
why does injustice occur

Lord I leave it all in your hands
at times we may never understand
there is injustice in every sense
without a doubt you will recompense

so give us the strength to hold on
cause vengeance is yours you've sworn
help us to endure each day
while you dear Lord make a way

Amen!
