Premium Member Sandwiches

The Earl of Sandwich created the sandwich, so it is alleged,
So as not to interrupt a gamblin' game in which he'd hedged!
If he'd used his given name, Montague, for that repast instead,
We'd be eatin' "Montagues", not sandwiches, with our bread!

I 'spose it was the genesis of fast foods with its debut.
It's outlasted passing fads such as meat and cheese fondue.
Entrepreneurs since have created every type of combination,
To slap between two slices of bread for our delectation!

As soon as they're weened, kids want betwixt their bread,
Peanut butter and any kind of jelly, liberally spread!
Who can resist a delectable sandwich of cheese and salami,
Or slices of rye, piled high with mustard and pastrami?

Ain't nothin' like a reuben with beef, cheese and sauerkraut,
Between rye with horseradish hot enough to make you shout!
Even those fried egg sandwiches my Mom fixed for school,
I could hardly wait to eat - even they made me drool!

From steaks, chops and mashed pertaters I can refrain,
But I really do need my sandwich fix now and again.
It's makin' me salivate just writin' about all this baloney,
So I think I'll go fix myself a rye, cheese and pepperoni!

Premium Member Louise's 4-Flavor Cheesecake Hex

I do love cheese!
Jeez, Louise,
what artistry I see.
A scrumptious luscious fresh confection
waits here just for me.

It’s fine, so fine
and looks divine.
What an awesome feat -
to make dessert that looks almost
too beautiful to eat!

Oh, what a cake!
For heaven’s sake,
it’s like a rainbow pie. . .
You’ve got it quartered up real nice
in different colors. My!

It’s four in one;
son of a gun!
One part blueberry blue.
There’s cherry red, rum-drizzled (yum)
And chocolate flavored too.

It’s first to blue
I say “I do”
and take a hearty bite.
Ooh la la LA! My tongue awakes
to magical delight!

On to red. . .
Am I now dead?
Nirvana, here am I!
Near bliss achieved with baked sweet cheese
and mounds of cherries. . . . (sigh)

The color cream
with rum. . . a dream!
I think I’m in a trance.
This cheesecake is half gone now.
Let me loosen up my pants!

The dark and sweet
is left to eat.
What decadence! What sin!
This double trouble chocolate
has completely done me in.

You say each day
we’ll eat this way?
You’ve put on me a hex. . .
I’ve got to have you for my wife.
Your cheesecake outdoes sex!

Pearls To Swine

this is a poem about idiotic fools who try to take kindness for weakness

i figured you were needy
but all you really wanna do is get your dirty hands greasy
yo,here's a little money to get you through the day
here's a little sandwich i was gonna throw away
what kind of a beast did i create?

you started being at the spots that you saw i love to be
a person turned to pest too quick and easily

and you had a stupid smile when i told you i was broke
it turned into saddened frown and i thought that you would choke
you don't wanna work
you stay drunk on devils wine
well the word of God tells me not to cast my pearls to swine

now you view me like the bad guy
like an evil enemy
but you're your own worst critic
you're just too blind to stop and see

better stop and smell the roses while your diggin in the trash
the world it owes you nothing
so you can stick it in your a..

so when you've got your hand out and i bless another soul
don't get mad and don't feel played out cause you dug yourself a hole
cause i love to be a blessing to those who don't expect it
when you see me eating steak and lobsters just enjoy your meal of s...

Premium Member Choc'Lit

Some folks buy choc'lit for almost every special event.
I've heard of hubbies buying it for discord to prevent!
But I don't need a motive or any momentous occasion.
I'll savor that ambrosia anytime, with little or no persuasion!

Choc'lit white, light or dark, it really matters not.
Better yet with nuts! Now that really hits the spot!
'Tis the nector of the gods as that rich, pure choc'lit
Oozes over and saturates a delectable banana split!

Should my spouse ever muse, "Whatever shall I bake?"
My reply will always be, "I want a German choc'lit cake!"
And there's no better way my taste buds to seduce,
Than to end a sumptuous meal with a creamy choc'lit mousse!

When on occasion too many rum-filled choc'lits I ate,
It made me somewhat giddy and difficult to navigate!
My feelings you would certainly never, ever ruffle,
Should you deign to offer me a gooey choc'lit truffle!

The return to dust is inevitable - it we cannot postpone,
So I've concocted this epitaph to etch upon my stone:
"Dear Lord, be merciful as my eternal bourne I begin;
Please forgive me, a chocoholic, should it be deemed a sin!"

Guilty Pleasure

Today I won't care if my hair's a mess
I wont worry that my clothes aren't pressed
I don't give a damn
that I've argued with my man
There's a cheesecake in the fridge
and it absolutely cooing
Its calling out my name
while my tea is gently brewing
Mmm the creaminess is
the symphony of my favourite song
The crumbly biscuit base
will just melt as it touches my tongue
Just the very thought
of me and my favourite pie
takes the stresses of the day
and waves them all bye bye
So don't bother me with triviality
or remind me of the chores
I should be doing
As I snuggle on my comfy chair
and do some cheesecake wooing
and as I take that first bite
to heaven I am sent
Sensational raptures, play their tune
while vanilla hues waft and content
my senses so relaxed
body tingles, the taste so good
I'd have you every day if I could
but then I guess you wouldn't be so special
the treat I look so forward to
My guilty little pleasure
Mmmm just me and you

Readable Cheese

READABLE CHEESE

Long ago in a certain country district
Grocery stores sold cheese unwrapped
The hygiene rules were not too strict
Sometimes a mouse near the cheese was trapped

A chunk was wire-cut from a block wrapped in lint
Then a piece of newspaper covered it with ease
The cheese was eaten with the words’ imprint
I learned to read by spelling from the cheese

Curious lexicon, but effective method even today
I slowly savoured the delights of “river” and “goats”
I munched through several delicious pieces of “U. S. A.”
Sometimes digested even “liver” and “boats”

People boast that they learned to read from their mums
Or that their teacher at school was their model
But I was a student of those yum-yum cheese crumbs,
They taught me good taste and helped me to spell.

"mmmmm"

I love macaroni salad and macaroni and cheese.
I'm so hungry give me some pretty please.
I love all kinds of pasta but my fav.is angel hair.
When it's time for dinner it's hard for me to share.
Bringing egg noodles to a boil and put chicken in the pot.
To feed my big family you always need a lot.
Grand kids love penne pasta they say it's the best.
When they have it with cheese it gives me a rest.
I make a great lasagna with Italian bread.
At least thats what my family said.
I roll manicotti and stuffed it with chicken.
My whole family said ummm it's finger lick'en.

Our Brain

SUCH A SIGJHT I SAW,
The rippling of the waves lapping over the golden shore ,
The billowing ocean shimmering in the darting starlight,
It makes me feel relaxed as if everything else in life has wandered away,
SUCH A SIGHT I SAW.

SUCH A SMELL I SMELT,
As the sea salt rumbled into foam
As it blew up the beach,
And into the distance,
SUCH A SMELL I SMELT.

SUCH A TASTE I TASTED,
The cooling ice cream trickling gently down my throat,
It refreshes me from the tips of my toes,
SUCH A TASTE I TASTED.

SUCH A SOFT TOUCH I FELT,
Water sprinkling over the plam of my hand,
I was so relaxed and calm,
such a soft touch i felt.

My Green Glass Mug

It looks like a beer mug
maybe one from St. Patrick's Day
I keep it in a special spot
so I'll always know where it is.

It loves to go for a spin
in my little microwave
holding a green tea bag
brewing me something healthy.

Sometimes it takes a break
opting for hot chocolate instead
though it really hates this
when I have to scrub it clean.

Coffee isn't so bad to it
taking many a day to build up
enough for me to deep clean it
with more than a gentle rinse.

My mug and I spend many a day
sitting by our computer
working on verses together
it keeping my drinks warm.
