Working on compiling this book of grandpa wisdom,
Harder than choosing which old poems to include
Is cutting off the ongoing output of new ones!
But I do want to get it done,
And I really don’t want to ever do another,
So final thoughts keep building
Eager to rise and shine and make the cut,
A final cut which may never come
As long as grasping mind keeps grasping
For whatever it is an immaterial thing can hold.
But the reason for all these words
Is today I realized something important
Perhaps important enough to stem the tide of poems
If not the grasping mind.
Humans more than anything want security and comfort
And by extension to be happy
The happiness then becomes a goal
Symbolizing all the other basic needs
(while truth/self-actualization may be at the top of the pyramid, this in effect then puts it on few people’s list)
And yet this is what my poems aim for incessantly.
But the truth is enlightenment
Isn’t about worldly goals and values.
People talk about it like it will be a lasting peace
With endless, effortless happiness,
But this strikes me as more an ad campaign
Than the actual truth.
But I don’t know what enlightenment is,
My hunch being that it is like mercury
Pulled together by the cohesive force of its unity
Into small discreet spheres or moments of ineffability,
Rather than dispersing like a fog or fragrance
Across time and space
Which would thus be knowable
Or at least noticed.
Instead it goes unnoticed by everyone,
Even those supposedly searching for it,
The tiny spheres of momentary peace
Blending into every other,
Since all moments are by nature enlightened,
Until the seamless analog story we tell ourselves
Obscures its digital content.
And as I mentioned before,
Our stories are all about security and comfort
Not truth and its fundamental components.
So, where does this leave the poet,
A poet who really doesn't know,
Trying to reach others, who really don't care?
Alone, contentedly so, and perhaps at last
Able to make the final cut
See what comes next
In a life without need or time for story.
What is left in such a life you ask?
What comes next.

Consuming Failure
Pay heed the dancing chickens hot plate feet
lest you believe the music makes him strut
outrunning death by curried peppers sweet
the cooling of the iron his sole treat
keep moving to avoid the final cut
pay heed the dancing chickens hot plate feet
harsh tempo of perfections searing heat
obsession with the ifs, and whens, and buts
outrunning death by curried peppers sweet
performing in the hope of winning seat
an endless line that must remain uncut
pay heed the dancing chickens hot plate feet
there is in heated battle no retreat
for some the dancer’s door will soon slam shut
outrunning death by curried peppers sweet
accept in simple failure your defeat
perfections long sought peak a muddy rut
pay heed the dancing chickens hot plate feet
outrunning death by curried peppers sweet

Idiocracy Final Cut
You think you are smart.
You think you are clever.
Because you have monopolised our society.
And buried the treasure.
Cole’s Myer and Woolworths own half of Australia.
Another prime minister another ing failure.
another freight train about to derail.
Another system built to fail
Imagination is our only weapon in the war against reality.
I prefer to practice the art of mindfulness and meditation.
On my quest to regain my sanity
instead of taking a fist full of antipsychotic dog medication.
Planet Earth has being contaminated, consumed,
by
consumerism,corruption,coercion,religion,racism,
violence,discrimination division and war.
I was born to snap your neck as I rock this world to its core.
The words on this page were written for all to see as
Did I find music?
Or did Music find me?

Princess Bride
Your faiytale has come true
Look how the stars shine for you
Eminating back from a single glass slipper
Are you the fairest of them all ?
Adorned in a white wedding train
Clambering along royal track's
With Veil laced black
Hold up behind the Castle wall's
Is the faiytale of going to the ball
All your dream's foretold ?
Is Prince Charming ?
Charming or alarming ?
Have you found happiness in the marital bed ?
Or is the dream dead ?
Doth love bridge the divide ?
Can love survive ?
Where is 1 to hide ?
When great expectations of human relations
Do not make the editor's final cut
Eyes wide shut
The but of rising above 1 station
Fell victim to the fantasy created
She lies
She dies
She cries
The tear's of 20 /20 vision
The heart harps back
To lesser majesty
Back to hope
Before the tragedy
Autumns here, not to cold
Roses are still blooming
Looking around I see lots to do
Dead heading,weeding and pruning
Bulbs ive bought for next year
To pop their heads up here and there
And the sweet pea seed pods
Are drying in the air
It's time to tidy up our plot
With lots of digging too
Weeds to pull, beds to hoe
Lots of things will have to go
You know you have to be a little brave
If that roseyou want to save
But you will learn that over time
You have to be cruel
Just to be kind
The flower beds need a tidy
Take all the dead stuff off the top
Veg plotsbeing well dug over
Waiting for next years crop
Pruning back wayward branches
Collecting seeds, next year to sow
Burning up the collected debre
Long gone are the neat vegies in straight rows
The lawn will soon need it's final cut
All the birds have flown their nests
Must take down the nesting boxes
To clean and get rid of pests
September now with harvest moon
Time will fly and very soon
Christmas will be here
I hear you cry
And then its over
In the blink of an eye
And then ........
Springs around the corner
With wondrous thing to see
Bulbs popping up above the ground
Giving joy to you and me
And when all the hard works done
You can sit back and be pleased
Wind, frost, rain and sun
You've grown all that you need
The seasons cycle will start again
And it will be time
Seed catalogueat the ready
More varieties to find
Seeds to sow , hpoe they'll grow
The lawn will soon need it's 1st mow
The summer months to enjoy
But really it's just a ploy
It all starts again
For another year
For harvest festival
Is here again for another year
