Atlantis Rises

Atlantis rises

Under the water a city floats.
Invisible walls protect the people from the ocean.
Above the waves, nobody knows of the city below.
The worshipers lay flowers before their Gods to show their devotion.

For centuries this city has stood against the wave of incoming tides.
For generations its people have tried,
To find a way to live above and not just accept being uprooted;
But there are those would claim to rule,
So Atlantis must remain secluded.
The Atlantian’s feel trapped inside their sphere.
They want to find land; they want a new home and a new frontier,
But this city is the hand they have been dealt.
Even in this united community, there are those who cannot be helped.

They plot and scheme and think of change,
But they cannot wait to see that day;
For they are impatient,
So they act on instinct.
Not willing to discuss, they move with mistrust
And without a sound, they blink…
They disappear and gather in secret to speak.
Security seek them, but the protectors are weak.

The time has come to leave this place!
At night they leap into action, a war on the base.
Guns are waved, orders are shouted;
Shock and awe are a necessity, as to not be doubted.
Stolen ships of exploration;
Part of the human spirit has been taken.

But the community comes together to unite around those who remain.
They still think about those who decided to leave,
But the minutes soon turn into days.
Soon those who left are all but forgotten;
Life moves on without a mention of them.

All that which they stole has been replaced.
Years later a city rises from beneath the waves,
To appear before the world; a mystery unravels.
The people who never existed have found a way to travel.
How did they survive beneath the sea all these days?
With magic and machinery, they found a way.

A future voice; an alien being.
Time travel; all knowledge available to be seen.
As the city grows to reach the land,
The ocean is its arm; the city is its hands
And as the hand rises, the people multiply.
The city continues to grow until it reaches the sky.
Now the ocean is unseen, the land is no longer green.
Everywhere the people look, they only see concrete.

The view disappears;
Sky scraper towers.
Humans have advanced through the years,
But gone are all the flowers…

A Rift In Time Part 1

A Rift in Time

By Elton Camp

	Henry Higgins, B.A., M.A. Ph.D., graduate in physics from the Massachusetts Institution of Technology, is missing. Born August 8, 1950, he was thought of as a genius by some, but as a crackpot by others. Revolutionary theories on the possibility of time travel that he presented at scientific gatherings received a mixture of applause and ridicule. None of his articles have seen publication in peer-reviewed journals.

	How his machine works is of a technical nature, thus certain to be of insignificant interest to the readers of this account. Suffice it to say that it works very well. Henry had seen his device disappear and reappear multiple times after being programmed to slide both forward and backward in time.

	Finally came the day to test it in person. Surprisingly athletic for a man of his years, Henry strapped himself into place before the control panel, adjusted his eyeglasses and pulled a protective helmet over his thick, gray hair. He set the chronometer to early August of 2040 to determine if he was still living at that advanced age and what honors had been accorded him by the scientific community.

	With a barely-discernable jerk, the time machine began its slide into the future, the red cancel button prominently alongside the digital display of the date. The world outside the device became a blur and Henry heard only a low hum from the engine. All seemed to be well as the years rolled by on the chronometer. At first, that is.

	Henry noted with surprise the muscle atrophy and skin changes associated with extreme age. A slight looseness of his helmet caused him to discover that he was now as bald as his father had been in his late eighties. Henry’s eyeglasses no longer allowed him to read the control panel clearly. The truth hit him--he was aging along with the passing years. The inanimate time machine had shown no such effect, but it was different with a biological organism. He desperately punched the cancel button, realizing that, if his future self was not still living, his death was impending.

	To his relief, the chronometer slowed and stopped. Without input from Henry, the time device began to move backward in time, slowly at first, and then at a brisk clip. By the time the read-out showed Henry’s present, his physical deterioration had been reversed and all was as before.

The Death of Destiny, Part Ii

...It was just after such a cry
that she turned her sad face to him,
said,”It’s not written that you’d come…
What power lets you come within?”

Enktantas just advanced slowly,
a battered sword high on his belt,
“A voice told me to come find you,
where it came from, I cannot tell.

“I don’t even know why I come here,
no silence could I ever find,
I hoped if I could track you down
the madness would drain from my mind.

“But tell me, goddess, why you cry?
Why would a goddess feel so sad?
I thought tears were for us mortals,
whatever could make you feel bad?”

The goddess blinked away her tears,
and looked down on the mortal man,
said, “I have cried since I was made,
I'm Destiny, and by it damned.

“You mortals were blessed with some choice,
if just the illusion of it,
but I am bound by this great scroll,
and my feelings can’t defeat this.

“What I read here is what must be,
I say names and men go to death,
even if I feel it is wrong
the words still leap out with each breath.

“So many babies innocent,
beloved folks who deserved more,
even fellow gods fated to die,
while sparing those rightly deplored.

“For all of time I’ve done this task,
so have my daughters by my side,”
she said,”But you were not written…
it is you who must make me die!”

Enktantas jolted in real shock,
and stumbled about for his words,
“I-I do not mean to hurt you,
To kill a goddess? That’s just absurd!”

But Ananke just shook her head,
said,”I don’t think that is the case.
To be here without it being told…
To be excused by the strands of fate?

“This has never happened before,
maybe this is the first real choice,
sent by a power beyond fate…
I think that’s the goal of this ‘voice.’

“And even if it’s something else,
at this point I no longer care,
deaths of millions are on my soul,
I’m in pain from that much despair.

“So take that sword stained red with blood,
and please strike me square on my breast,
if I am wrong nothing changes,
if right then I’ll finally have death.”

Enktantas frowned and bit his lip,
the mere thought to him seemed insane,
But a goddess had commanded him,
and so evident was her pain...

He pulled the sword out from his belt,
put the tip right over her heart,
“Forgive me,”he said in advanced,
then plunged forward with the sword, hard...

The Poetry Soup Convention 2011

My name is Gary Fields
And I am at the Poetry Convention
Their are a myriad of Poet's
They are all in contention
There are so many that I may
Want to mention'
So, pay attention
Fore they must do this
In abstention

At my table there are three
Their are four including me

The second choice in my contention
IS Dr. Ram Mehta
He is such an easy catch
He is a voice/a reflection
He shares' so much love and affection
Being one of so few words
His disposition is the best
And his Human Psyche will
Never rest'

Could this be some sort of test
That his deepest guarded  secret's
Are guarded close to his chest

Being a doctor and all
It is unlikely that he will ever confess

Third at the table is the X DESTROYER X POET
Due to the lack of word's
She always' have something for ya
And will certainly destroy ya
If not, then simply ignore ya
Fore she deserves' to seat here

And not just on the foyer

It is a main bone of contention
There is no reason why I can't enjoy ya
Or at least releave the tension

With her advanced degree
her suplituding pensoin for Poetry
It seems' that her messages' are
Aimed straight for me
She give's to this her all
She never seem to miss a call

And to past the test
One may think that
She seem's to be a little obsessed
Most of all
She keeps' her secret
Buried so close to her breast
And what wonderful breast they
Might be

Only saving for us
The one's she profess to be the best
But never the less
She rises' among the rest

Fouth at the table is Ms. Sweetheart of Poetry
Wish she will spend more Poetry with me
And plain not just ignore me
Because I'm a fan of her now
She introduced me to this race
She is all ways' on the case

She is fully comfortable in her space
I just hope that she won't have to use
All of her mace,
She composes' herself with grace
Fore this is so much an adventure
And not just some silly old Snail Race
If I haven't said enough by now
Then it is because I am running
Out of space, or being run out of town
But, there is always one next year
Same time, manybe not
The same old place

The Dinosaur Ai, Part I

I used to be an archaeologist,
and minored in paleontology,
had a job at a college and tenure,
Dr. Bascomb was what students called me.

I specialized much in the early years,
the emergence of civilization,
in summer I’d go and oversee digs,
usually at work in foreign nations.

But the strongest dig I even went on
was right here in the good ol’ USA,
we were working in South Indiana,
the repercussions echo to this day.

They’d found something buried deep in the ground,
and it had been there for millions of years,
what shocked the world, it was made of metal,
all sorts of theories ran, all sorts of weird.

It seemed to be a bunker of some sort,
with big rooms twice as tall as they should be,
and strangers still, based on the soil depth
it had been built just before the K-T!

Who was building things in the Cretaceous?
This was the question that boggled our minds,
but this way only the beginning of
the weirdness, yes, so much more did we find.

On the walls we saw strange, claw-like markings,
in a vertical pattern that was clear,
all figured it was a form or writing,
deciphering it took us two whole years.

And when people could read what was written,
the authorities clamped down rather fast,
they threatened our jobs, all our livelihoods,
but I will speak the truth of this, at last.

You see some Dinosaurs were sentients,
born of the Deinonychus family,
the ones mistakenly called ‘raptors,’
because of that damn blockbuster movie!

Anyway, if this was all that we’d found,
we would’ve said so and it would be great,
the type of find that could make a career,
something to explore and investigate.

But the real world isn’t that simple,
amidst the claw-mark writing we’d find
how advanced these dinosaurs truly were,
that they had developed a real A.I.!

In fact the writing was only up there
because the A.I. had written the words,
to make sure the truth of things would live on
despite the hellish K-T disaster.

We thought they might have seen it coming then,
that great asteroid that slammed into Earth,
maybe they had tried to hide in this place,
Tt make sure some dinos escaped the hurt.

But things got stranger as we kept reading,
see the dinos had used biology,
instead of circuits, they used DNA,
engineered organic thinking machines...

Johnny's Story

Johnny always wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps,
as soon as he turned 18 he joined the US Army-
He wanted to live of life of honor, free of regret,
so he joined the one and only Mechanized Infantry.

To the world he wanted to make a difference,
and he only wanted to make his mamma proud-
He soon advanced to sergeant in deep reverence,
you could see Johnny’s honor through a crowd.

So humbly he fought the good fight on the front line,
used strong weaponry and all the fine resources,
Unfortunately, there was this one disastrous time,
he was wounded in combat and traded soldier courses.

It was about six months later he went back to Irag,
for he still longed to be the one to make us free-
He knew he had to get his life back on track,
so that one day he could tell his children a proud story.

Back at home his wife was pregnant with their first,
so he fought with more dignity and more strength,
Even though holding he dreamed of holding her at birth,
he still would fight for his troop at any length.

Nobility became his future and a General he became,
he had soldiers who looked upon him with respect-
This man was at a high rank and Johnny was his name,
but he still didn’t know what honestly expect.

In the US Army, you can be all you can be,
but sometimes soldiers by your side isn't enough,
Johnny was barricaded and suffered a brain injury,
ended up in Germany for surgery, and it was tough.

He lost his arm from a grenade that hit him hard,
after he healed he was sent home to his daughter and wife,
He wondered if his decisions had played the wrong card,
but was able to hold sweet Ellie for the first time in his life.

With adversity he struggled at home to come to terms,
with all the traumatic things he had seen and done-
But continued a strict regimen of therapy very firm,
and deep inside he knew the United States had won.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When we see a wounded soldier and look away,
we should be ashamed and hold them with admiration-
Even though we may not have the right words to say,
those heros are one of the reasons for...
                                      ...our country’s emancipation.
Well, the FED was in. A light. Dude, he ing didn't die. His brain came out, but he ing was fly as  came up says, I know what, what the problem is, and I'll fix it right away. We got IRS for this. We got FBI for that. We got CIA, you got.
 for ing nothing. Nothing that you do. Cuz, uh, in the '60s it was rocking like it was. Clit, rocking clit and licking it too. Licking that pussy till it came through. Looking at that pussy that  said dude. So, hey Jude, you don't make it bad. Just tell her she had a good time.
So, hey Jude. Hey, Jude just leave her that ing liver that ing kidney with some Rhymes. Good rhymes like good rhymes. Good Rhymes, good Rhymes. Deliver that ing internal organ to the bank. Cashing in for some body parts and tank. Take that tank to Frank's and have Frank Stein.
It's extra body wrap. I'm like essential. What is essential? I'm not listen to I'm a body. Somebody with brain body with the mind and body, insane, and body body, all the time. Body on pain, body on Fame. She's living there now. Right? She's doing that thing. Right? Well, why is she looking at me like that?
If you want to  no, she don't want to  you. Why she's doing that. Why is she going through that? Why she's giving those faces? What's kind of ing increases? Uh, uh Explain all the ing places that we lost, at least a ing, a gram and a half of ing of, uh, you know, fetty fetty and I'm just going to say it Betty.
You Say I Say
You say there is no God. You believe in evolution. You say that all conditions were right for life on Earth. The temperature was right, the oxygen was right, the hydrogen was right. I say where did the temperature come from? Where did the oxygen and the hydrogen come from? You say they came to be when the universe was created by the big bang theory, or possibly the dust bowl theory. You say by chance the Earth landed the exact distance and angle from the Sun so that the conditions were right for life on our planet. Thus, evolution began towards the start of conscious man. I say where did the big bang come from? Where did the ingredients in the dust bowl come from?
What started the whole process in motion in the beginning? What created the first circumstance for the very first particle of matter anywhere? What scientific formula can tell you that from nothing, no atoms, no chemicals, no gasses, no reality whatsoever, that the first particle of matter self generated? None, It did not happen. Science and common sense tells us that it had to be created. And it was created by God.
You say the Earth and the Universe is very old and took millions of years to evolve. I say it is as old as man took six days to create. You say that science has it all figured out. With all their education and scientific experience nothing is unknown to man. I say that we cannot begin to understand the knowledge and power of God’s plans future and past. For what we think is starting to happen, God has already finished. God was here at the beginning of time, and is at the end of time, at the same time.
You say we are a race of advanced animals, with the power to communicate because of a conscience thought process. We will live, reproduce and die. I say we are divine beings, created in God’s likeness, with a soul, and a will of our own. We have been given a gift to choose right from wrong, believe or not to believe in God.
You say that after death, there is nothing but non existence and to the food chain we will return. I say because of God’s grace there is a Heaven and a hell. Because God became man, suffered, died and was resurrected, we will have a destiny to fulfill after death.
What do you say?
