Goodbye to the Penny

Logical argument tells me it ought to go
However, I sorta hate to see it become so
The penny isn’t even of copper they say
And costs more than a cent to make today
The coin’s value has become so small
Why bother to pick them up if they fall
To pockets and purses they add weight
To get them in change, many sure hate
A single drop of gas one might buy
For a piece of candy, don’t even try
Nickel rounding comes if they disappear
But such a small amount is little to fear
But all my life, pennies have been in use
That I’d miss them isn’t much excuse
In economic reality we have to agree
Abolishing the penny is going to be
