Earth Up Poems | Examples

Sunflower

The sunflower stretched
With its stalk and its neck
As far to the sky
As it could – reaching high,
Pushing its golden face
With clumsy, awkward grace

Trying, with all its might
To reach the highest height
That it could ever muster
So it could be like Custer
Or like a grand ole redwood
(I think it thought it could)

It reached into the atmosphere
Inhaled the biting air
Looked about in wonderment
High above the firmament

But slender was its frame
It did not have the strength
To stand as so unaided –
It weakened, and degraded

It towered, then bent over,
It leaned a little lower
And found the earth up close
Had just as much to boast
As did the open sky
It wondered at up high –

And thereto did it stay
Forever and a day
A little bit hung over
As if it lost its lover

Or better yet, had found
Upon the hallowed ground
Some cosmic explanation
About its situation
Which held it in its thrall
High above it all

And made its hanging there
That much easier to bear –

Down-To-Earth, Up In the Sky

Down-to-earth statements,
Either spoken or written;
They indeed do make sense,
Causing smile to many men.

Down-to-earth person
Is so easy to talk to;
Approachable as he is,
Cordial in other's view.

Down-to-earth friend
Is practical and sensible;
Warm and friendly as he is,
His words are wonderful.

Down-to-earth winner
Is so unpretentious;
Meek and humble as he is,
Modest even if victorious.

Let lowliness live in your heart,
Reaching the dream so high;
Spread your wings with prayer,
Down-to-earth, up in the sky.

Invitation

I am The Now
Now and Now

Catch me

Witness the fireworks erupt
In a multitude of shooting stars
I see you tighten your grip on that wine glass
Drop it
Hear it shatter
I am that.

Lover,
I sprang from the earth as the Flower of the forest
My roots run wild, above and below
Winding its way down the earth, up the sun
Entangled in and out of a billion galaxies
I am the flower that bloomed.
I am the The Now
Now and Now
,
Bend and touch the ground
Let the sand caress your wayward hand
Let the waves splash over your wandering feet
Be here with me

I am The Now
Now and Now
This celebration is imperfect without you
Hear me speak
For i am the language, the poet and the poem.
Look no further,
Attempt not to read between the lines
For this is no metaphor
For today i have come undone
I am The Now
Now and Now
Allow me to be kissed
When your lips open and close open and close
Listen to the chiming of my anklet as i dance
As my feet touches the ground to your beating heart.

Jasmine dances to the music of the wind still rooted
This is that dance.

We All Soar

" We All Soar "

Through time we all journey and space We All Soar
we can have our desire and everything more.

God’s heaven awaits us with his eternity gift
from earth up to heaven our life’s will all shift.

This is the most beautiful place where the universe ends
amid all of God’s glory where our real love begins.

We will have no expectations and be rid of regret
for here in this moment all our needs have been met.

Our earthly possessions are all laid to the side
they will have no place here where God does not hide.

Surrounded by shining stars our love at last blooms
as the birth of the planets gave life to the moons.

Through space we all journey and time We All Soar
with God in his heaven its him we adore…

What If Today Was the Day

What if today was the day
That the Rapture occurred?
What if today was that day
And the Lord returned to earth?

Would you be ascending with Him
From the earth up to Heaven?
Or did you not have faith in Him
Until you saw with your own eyes?

What if you had to believe in Him
Before this time occurred?
And believing once you saw Him
Was a second too late to count?

What if today was the day
And good deeds did not count?
What if you were left behind to stay
And your new found faith came too late?
