To keep us safe they came for our guns, then our thoughts.
Gradually, a fast-paced credenda beguiled us, lulled us,
pacified the trouble makers.
We were Alzheimer’s shock troops,
they sent us to war against ourselves.
Then the soil itself surrendered
allowing the sky to wash away its history.
The younger people had no memory of how we were,
but they taught us to be good
and never talk of how it was before the big people.
Man measures all things;
Laying down those credenda
Others live to serve.
