The mist in Regent Gardens air
awakes a single rosebud there.
Her scent drifts past Trafalgar Square -
England’s summer has begun.
The rising sun above the Thames
shines brighter than a crown of gems;
peeks through the panes of Buckingham
until the day is done.
Saint James Park invites the dawn
as sunbeams nudge the regal lawn.
Grass blades spread their arms and yawn:
"Good Morning, Summer day!"
Big Ben chimes a fond embrace
whilst daybreak warms his noble face.
Tower Bridge can sense sweet grace -
Summer’s song is on Her way.
Chiffchaffs adorn the royal parks
as children’s voices trill like larks.
Blooming dogwoods deftly bark
in praise of Summer’s song.
Purple lilacs perfume the breeze.
Lombard's merchants aim to please.
Harrods unfurls green canopies
to shade the heated throng.
Piccadilly Circus burns so bright.
Vibrant neons illume the night.
A merry moon beams with delight -
enthralled by Summer’s spell.
Bells of St. Paul sing me goodbye,
as o'er the River Thames I fly.
My heart begins to sigh, as I
bid my London Summer - farewell.

As I look outside today
through my window pane,
I see the cloudy weather
about to start to rain
Dismal, dark and dank
it is outside just now
How I truly wish
I could be out there somehow
But alas my view of the world
is confined to this one seat
I cannot walk to go outside
to once more feel summer's heat
To feel the rain upon my face
once more would be blissful
The thought of it while comforting
I know is only wistful
The feel of normal things outside
is what I mostly miss
A snowy winter's day
a snowflakes chilly kiss
The blades of grass beneath my feet
To feel the sun's life giving heat
To walk along a thoroughfare
with its traffic noise
Would be a pleasant diversion
from this endless void.
A stroll in a city park
with children engaged in play
To watch such a sight again
would be an amazing day
I wish I could tell everyone
to take each single second
To enjoy the moments
you so often take for granted
That stroll you take each summer night
so pleasant calm and soothing
Cherish its simplicity
know it's not worth losing
To run across the meadow
into a lovers arms
A feeling I can never know
so I trust it to you now
Take the time to do those things
you can simply do
For when those things are taken
it is those that trouble you
I ask you climb a hill
with your kids today
Then roll down it with them
take the time to play
Walk along a nature trail
take in all its wonder
Run in a summer rain
count the claps of thunder
Do all those things today
and no not just for me
But because its so important
time so quickly flees
The simple things in life
are also its most joyous
Please dont ever treat them
as if they were aweless
I ask you don't feel sad for me
I seek not pity nor sympathy
I wish only that you honor me
By living your life voraciously.
The summer scene
So blissful and serene
A bright sun shines
Over baby-blue skies
Upon a mountainous view
Bringing pleasure to my eyes
It’s great to be alive!
Breathe in the air
Feel a surge inside
As it flows through
Something beyond compare
There is no way to describe
There is no way I can share
What I am telling you
It is the accomplishment
More like personal gain
To rise above all of “it”
From a cesspool of names
Once achieved, rest with ease
Begin to enjoy the summer breeze
Hear the birds singing in the trees
Swaying to the song of peace
I am free! I am free!
Free at last to be
The one that never had the chance
To finally succeed!
Can you see? Can you see!
There is no more “you and me”
Long and treacherous the road has been
To the salvation I now receive
True happiness is rarely achieved
Far and few for many
Now at the pinnacle of my life
I am fully restored and ready
