Mento

They say I must sing
Through sunset dripping blood
And despite the broken wing
Of the bird fluttering
Where the boy had left it innocently
Sling shot wounded to die
They say I must sing
Say I must make the fourth beat
The important thing
And I want to know why should I bleat
Only after I have felt four lashes
I want to know
Because as a child the drop-pan man sold numbers
Making me know numbers had a owner
They belonged to someone
And that someone said four was the number of blood
And blood is the price of freedom
And the song is the memory of things
Things I do not want to forget
Things I file in the subconscious for a rainy day
Which must end for children to play
I love the songs we use to sing
The mento fife playing
While the folks clap
Mosquitoes and flies sapping the flesh
Parasites the flood left behind
I love the mento song
That they grow in Sunday morning digging songs
But I do not sing that rhythm now
The harmony is broken in me
For I do not know, cannot tell
Why the fourth beat intercedes my hell.

Inhuman Population

Inhuman Population

They try to tell us we need therapy,
that these feelings are unnatural.
The small minded are trapped in the mechanism of a robot
thus their attack of judgment are so practical
The union of two spirits should always be celebrated
two hearts,
two magnetic forces,
two naturally resourceful elements
have no right to be separated, deprivated, segregated
or proclaimed as demons, blasphemers or as an inhuman population.
We each have a purpose, provide a service
and contribute to lives and societies!
but our earth is so divided into
separate types and varieties that we’re blinded
by ignorance and hateful indifference with one another.

When we share

the same land

the same soil

the same air

the same oil

while tearing each other down in turmoil.

When this atmosphere was put here
to share our love, our life, our freedom, our rights,

to hear a lovers name gives the same reaction

to touch a lovers hand signifies the same attraction

A love that is just as pure and everlasting should never be outcasted!
For the one who sparks the fire in my eye
is the only one in whom I wish to stand by
and the one who supplies the rainbow after my storms
is the only one I refuse to be torn from!
and our lives and our existence is this……
So alive, so fruitful, so rich
so warm, so sheltering, so thick
like an ambience of united puzzle shaped pieces
that fit!

We refuse to remain in silence and fright
We refuse to give up insight
refuse to lose the fight
for love has no image
and we ALL deserve equal RIGHTS!

Modern-Day Slavery

I'm the voice you don't hear,

I'm the one which you needlessly fear.

I'm the person out on the fields,

I'm the one the law no longer shields.

I'm the one you pay less than minimum wage,

I'm the one that without reason is cause of your rage.

I'm the one you profoundly hate,

I'm the one you love to humiliate.

I'm the migrant worker searching for a better life,

I'm the one whose life you're taking with your political knife.

I'm the exception to human rights,

I'm the dog you dare beat, but condemn his bytes.

I'm the one you seek to exterminate from your land,

Yet you forget this was mine before it was taken by your hand.

I'm the one you call a criminal simply for working,

I'm the one whose family you are persistent in destroying.

I'm only a man pursuing happiness,

I'm the one you insist on leaving homeless.

I'm the one whose path to misery you'd love to pave,

I'm no more than your modern-day slave.
