Premium Member You See the Inside of Me, Amy

My likes and dislikes you are about to read
I loathe racism and conglomerate greed

Being in the middle mix, when there's a Sandra Dee
Always promoting themselves, hey look at me

The mistreatment of family, neighbours and friends
As hopefully their intelligence bucks this trend

Our treatment of earth's gems, her animals and plants
Succumb to never as the big companies rant

But inside of me there are many things that I love
They are so close to my heart that they fit like a glove

Firstly my children, three boys and a girl
Andrew, Steven, Rebekah and Liam - they are my world

Secondly there is, my music and art
But the sounds are the first as my arts to restart

The third are the seasons of beauty I await every year
Especially the spring, when buds and fruits appear

Nature delights our vision and captures our minds
It's the reason we react, to beauty and grind

So Amy Green, the above is my say
It's basically me on any given day

Sands of Shaybah

From a big 737's porthole looking down
upon rows of endless, barren mountains,
from the clouds to the wadis I descend
unto thy waiting arms among the dunes.

Far in the middle of a vast wasteland
right in Arabia's remote Empty Quarter,
searching for black gold hardy men toil
amid howling winds and scorching sun.

As rugged machines wander wildly free
like tireless armies of booms and steel,
proud towering rigs on lonely oil wells
bore deep into earth's generous bosoms.

In desolation removed from the world,
striking symmetries on shifting sands!
behold the shy beauty of prickly shrubs
on quiet hillsides waiting for discovery.

While hues of softly changing colors rest
on sunlit peaks and hills by the shadow,
footprints I will leave on yielding ground,
faint traces that the wind shall soon erase.

Oh, just to frolic in these steep slopes
flat on my belly on a cardboard ship!
amazed finding that by just being here
takes me back to a childhood long ago.

Shaybah, in coming I did not conquer
for it’s you etching imprints in my brain,
marveling why beauty and riches often
lay hidden in isolation, it seems.

Note:
Shaybah is a newly discovered oil field
deep in Arabia's Empty Quarter, one of
the most desolate places on earth.

Take the Time

How fortunate, the ones who pause
and slowly take the time
to look at nature's scenery
and see such beauty sublime.

It doesn't matter what season it is,
there's beauty beyond compare.
Such mastering of creation is His,
made for us with loving care.

You do yourself wrong when you don't take the time
to see what was put here for you.
Look around and as your eyes climb,
just gaze at the sky so blue.

Know that your days upon this earth
are precious, yet numbered and few.
And in taking the time do you see the worth
of all that was put here for you ?

Autumn

autumn blazes magnificient colors,
seasons change as leaves fall to the ground,
their essence lays a blanket of beauty with colors of red, gold, and brown,
the breeze blows as it pleases,
each leaf positioned in his particular place,
floating colors of god's creation,
gracefully falling through time and space,
portraying the master's beauty for all the earth to see,
before the wind passes down a new generation, and rebirth starts with brand new seed.
