Wisdom In Fathoms

Poetry is a body of water,
With the title being its' surface;
The context deep or shallow.
It's as far in the water,
One chooses to go...

Inspired by a good friend of mine.
Conor Jordan's artistic eye and
Spoken knowledge helped me greatly.
His wisdom speaks oceans.
Our first collaboration of many...
There’s wisdom to be found,
In the depths of a poem.
If we choose to submerge our mind.
We hope you enjoy! Thank you

An Open Mind

An open mind is thoughtful,
It hears but does not judge.
Respecting all opinions,
Not one does it begrudge.

It never stands accusing,
Those times it disagrees.
It's range of understanding,
Is deeper than the seas.

It does not draw conclusions,
Whenever doubt remains.
It welcomes new ideas,
For knowledge is its gain.

It will not point a finger,
When opinions are wrong.
It presents its evidence,
To help the point along.

When its theories don't hold up,
It seeks to understand.
The truth is all that matters,
So wisdom can expand.

An open mind has insight,
It will not condescend.
Respect is always given,
On that, you can depend.

It will not be offensive,
With loud profanity.
Obscenities only serve
Our selfish vanity.

If someone asks for respect,
But gives none in return,
Then their mind will remain closed,
With no desire to learn.

For respect is the answer,
The mana of the wise.
It broadens our horizons,
And opens up our eyes.

Only with a selfless heart
Can true wisdom be found.
Those who heed the selfish call,
Can hear no other sound.

He who seeks enlightenment
Will ultimately find,
That an altruistic path
Inspires an open mind.

Last Straw On the Camel's Back

We are all camels carrying too much of loads
Our eyes are shedding tears due to pain
There few seconds our wisdom will rise
                                         from it’s sleep
Give some cautious to know the sorrows of life
She will smile and give a little pleasure
Your wisdom will be buried in to your desire
Again your eyes will shed tears
to get a little bit of relief from your heavy task
Again a straw will be removed from your back and
It will be thrown before your eyes
You will feel a complete relief
from all your burdens
She won’t allow you to go out from her hands
Cause she is Maya, very powerful illusion
Her task is to keep you in her circle forever
Though a holy way is very clear and visible to you
You can’t be allowed to go in that way
Cause she is Maya, very powerful illusion
She will remove a straw not of all and
You won’t be let free from Her clutches
