A thousand steps in between
who I was and who I am now
do I wonder about the detours?
do I wish I took the dirt road instead?

Would my path have been smoother if I said no instead of yes?
Would the worries have been less then what they are today?

I guess I’ll never know,
unless I go back in time
choose a different path
choose the least attractive offer and run with it

pipe dreams that is all my journey back in time would be
‘cause I would not have met you
and you would not be reading these words....

Everything in life boils down to an immaculate plan,
it may not be my ideal plan or yours
but in the end the voyage continues
whether we want to or not…

‘Cause it is all part of the bigger picture
and
in that image is your life and mine...

We just got to embrace the journey
no matter how uncertain it might be...

Premium Member My Journey Through Life

On my journey through life
I carry with me, pride;
Keeping it under control
With some humility on the side.

I am proud of my heritage,
And those who’s last name that I share;
My parents and siblings
All helped to get me here.

I am proud of my children,
And the adults they’ve become;
And proud of coming grandchildren
With whom I’ll have much fun.

I am proud of my accomplishments,
As limited as they may be;
I found they were sufficient enough
To provide for my family.

I am proud of these poems I write,
Though they may lack artistic flare;
I am even proud of the fact
That gracefully I lost my hair.

And I find now that my life’s journey
Is beginning to near it’s end,
The pride doesn’t start to fade -
It only gets deepened.

So please don’t think of me
As being arrogant;
But, I am proud of my journey through life
And how my time was spent.

The Journey

I'm going on a Journey
exactly where I do not know
I don't know when I'm leaving
and don't really want to go.

It's a Journey everyone must make
there's not much more to say
Unlike most other Journeys
this Journey's just one way.

I won't need a suitcase
or other travel gear
I must be sure to make amends
and get my conscience clear.

So I better get my butt in gear
make sure I'm well prepared
this trip can happen anytime
so I'm a little scared!

I hope it's not for many years
but I'm getting ready just in case
I'll try walk the straight and narrow
till this Journey does take place!

Companionship of Time

Darkness broke against the
shimmering, bleeding-out sky
as the sun, descending back
to its ebony prison.
We two sitting enjoying
Nog and Chai, speaking
pondering of life the
meaning, the confusion
of memories molding
clay upon the spinning
wheel, churning mankind
into a form from
embryological entrance
feet fist, usually
head proceeding down
to the slanting point
situations teaching
us the lessons of life
the best teacher the
one without judgment
letting us grow and
learn, the best guide allowing
us to experience it all
some good,
some bad
all adding to the moment
of who we are, all adding

to the reality that is us

We share with each other
these lessons, for we
too are teachers and
students to each other
All in one, one in all

From Cafe we sit
to icy darkness we stand
our breathes heard by ear
seen moving upwards by eyes
All truths revealed
of who we are, what we
learned and where we plan
on going. This journey
is one we need not
travel alone. Having a
good companion is just
as important as having
a backpack, rations
that sturdy canoe
we use these items
so often. The canoe
especially, its floating
mass taking us along
the river. Our Journey
filled with harsh winds
hail and rain. As we
grasp the floating emptiness
alone and frighten, the
rocking reminding us of
the cradle, but Mother
is absent, replaced by
the Mother of all. Nature
at her mercy, her
all-powerful grasp. This is
what we learned that
night against immature
car-filled hooligans, two
mature beyond age pairing
sages. That throughout
life we are faced by
many stepping stones
along the riverbed
yet we, along this course
can find comfort banding
together to get our
poetry heard, or voices and
minds accepted. Go!
Go together, all in one
one in all, strength in
numbers. Building our
home together, our Buddha
Lotus, our Grand Mosque
our Mecca of results
of our Poetic Journey
down the river of time.

Garden of the Gods

I walk the damp, dark path of oblivion.
Not a sound in this forest interrupts me and my thoughts.
Not a sight can take my mind from where I will it to go.Then there is light.

This dark forest path opens to sheer cliffs, light, and happiness. The birds chirp their song of
joy as they fly above me. A gentle breeze wraps me in its cool embrace.
Here Im a book flying open.
Here I am whole.

As I continue my journey of life,I enter a bright jungle.
Sunlight dapples everything.
The sounds of crickets and tranquility fill the air.
And still I continue my journey of life.
Through the hard and happy times, this life is truly like the Garden of the Gods.

The Game of Life

Life is too short
A gamble of some sort
And we are merely players of the game;
A game where every one's life is not the same.
Some may lose, some may win
Some in the process commit millions of sin.
Some survive because of luck
Some just curse their lives suck
Some cry over what's already've been spilled,
While others pray their hearts be healed,
But is this really life's true meaning?
Is it really a game of gambling?
Is it really a journey to success and fame?
Or a journey full of regrets and shame?
I don't know and I don't care,
All I know is that life has never been fair.

Turn Us Right Around

life as we know it
is a journey filled with many complications,
sometimes enough to turn us right around,
around and down to where we scarcely want to go.

that's life,
struggle to begin,
begin to end.

but in the end we have to keep in mind
nothing lasts,
life goes on.
if that's hard to recall...

whatever life may through your way,
I'm hear.
whatever life may through my way,
I know you'll be there.
everyone reaches obstacles throughout their journey of life.

two can pull themselves out better than one.
with a little bit of help,
a new direction can be discovered.

Choices Do a Fine Journey Make

Choices Do a Fine Journey Make

Living the journey to knowing.
Delivering wonderful news.
A voyage to understanding—
Truths passing through minds’ defuse.

Never forced, always free to pick.
Joy or sorrow by choice accrues.
Wisdom and charity loves quick.
Insights soon make hatreds diffuse.

Together…living…learning tour.
Amid friends, loves, cares, and shared days.
Preparing for eternity.
By practicing heavenly ways.

Life's expedition of choices—
The path to wisdom, a great trip,
Expediently making truces.
Should kindnesses ever slip.

Joyfully searching thoughts and facts.
Mesmerized by theories mistakes.
All mysteries riding their track
There searching does my journey make.
