In the solitude of an ebbing day, there is a twilight blush along the hills
And a world switches direction, ......as if tumbling silently into eternity
Where shadows of telephone poles, along a country road,.....
seem to curl,... and follow the curve of the earth
When the shadow of a tree becomes longer,.......
than ever a tree was tall
When my own silhouette, so dark and stretched, and long,......
seems to walk between earth and heaven
To feel such harmony at days end, my arms seem longer,...almost without limit...
long enough,...
so that I can reach out to catch the first star upon the evening sky,....
and feel the touch of God....

For Nette's Contest: "In 24 Hours"
By Carrie Richards
I sit in the dry desert longing for the rains,
But yet the sky fails to fall on my gains,
A dust wind blows, flinging the seeds borne of my pains,
All's all lost,I resolve to live in my stains,
But in the beyond an old tree persists,
The harsh winds whip it but survive it insists,
Dry is the soil, loosing its savor and taste,
But yet it roots go deep in search of life's list,
Amidst the harsh sandstorm, new leaves still sprout,
Defying harsh conditions, as its fears it thrashes out,
To its maker, its petition's hope ,shouts,
Striving on humanity's account,
As with the life of this tree I would rise,
For negative odds, I pledge to despise,
I will forge on,despite challenges size,
For on the long life of this tree would I ride,
The poet tree
little it be
growing emotions
stable roots emulsion
written in concrete
seed the street
as peace awaits under
shadow of tree lovely
oak that breaks asunder
Count down until
that wonderful day
when I will see that
beautiful tree of life
and touch the face
of my dear Jesus
and thank Him
for all that He
did for me.
Beautiful tree of life
heard so much
about it and
of heaven, waiting
until that dear day.
Glory land I'm coming
soon, will be a happy
day when I touch
that beautiful tree of life.

We have traveled far
With so far to go
In a land of hurt
Our culture we must sow
We have traveled so far
With so far to go
Leaving love behind
Our hearts hang so low
Like a tree without sun
Like a tree without rain
We have so far to go
Our spirit is broken
Our pride is amiss
We seem to be stagnant
A touch, without a kiss
So far down we have gone
To get back what we had
I wish we could have known
These weeds we have sown
Our love so far gone
For us to have traveled so far
Like a seed in the air we've been blown
Reborn, we must
Or we surely turn to dust
A memory in time
History, so sublime
We have so so far to go.
