The Anxious Mind

So fragile life and human conscious,
Mindful wander, erratic, of untold purpose,
Bringing shadowy foreboding,
To the depths of our spirit; a dangerous curse.

Tragedy is looming, catch your breath,
Two tonnes of weight upon the chest,
Pascal afflicts my senses, my head,
Silence scares and gravity flares: there can be no rest.

The toll hangs nigh, have you danced well?
Prior scepticism now awash with certainty,
Pray thee Lord, forgive me, I hear the bell,
Through my life I’ve been good, with mere lack of piety.

Alas, a break, judgement saved,
Fever unmasked, the evil plot twists,
From deepest despair, a way is paved,
Take control once more with clenched fists.

This fight over, prepare but not await the next,
Be strong, be happy, have faith, son,
Do not fear thought, health, nor text,
Then body, mind and soul may realign as one.

Beautiful Yet Dreadful

The sweetness short lingered and enjoyed
The dreadful aftermath -
Long suffered and happiness forfeit
The ultimate - undertaker ordained

Such inexpressible sufferings
Staring at the life buzzing before their eyes
So unsympathetic of theirs
When they are fading so steadily out of this life

Unregulated sweetness and enjoyment
Uncontrolled poverty and languish
The accurate recipe
For absolute and definite doom

Days painfully mature into weeks
Onto the bones the flesh hastily shrinks
Unto them the painful reality dawns
Their health and life so much at loss

Five minutes of pleasure
Is what they traded their indefinite mortality for
Now still so young
Yet a coffin they are ready own

Power over death we have not
Yet how immense our power to summon it is
Since of the shortcuts to it you are already informed
You are at liberty from that road to desist or not

Doc Frost

Your friend cannot be saved,
He told him his voice half raised.
But I thought that you said that he could,
Though not for the greater good?
I did and I didn’t who cares I’ve forgotten,
In any case he’ll soon be cold, dead and rotten.
So speak to him now if you’ve something to say,
But forgive me I’m having a frantic day.
Indeed I must leave at the fastest of paces,
Naturally ignoring these grieving faces.
Push through these fools to get to my lunch,
They truly are a sorry bunch,
Mmm tuna but lacking sweet-corn it seems,
That stupid woman is killing my dreams.
What does this roll represent?
A life full of anguish with nowhere to vent?
A marriage without the required cement?
A life choice without a portion of sense?
I never wanted to be a doctor anyway…
