I stare at the playground
Its been a long time since Ive been here
The hopscotch marks are fading..
..Once upon a time they were clear
but those memories are shading.
Alone in the cold,
thinking:
please bring back the old days.
For what is good today
was shunned upon yesterday
and night has turned into morning.
time is reforming
I dont like it, so i stare at the white lines on the gray concrete
I throw a rock and start hopping with moving numbers under my feet.

The Castle Of Dreams
Once upon a time
In a castle long ago
There lived a little princess
With hair as white as snow
She played a little game there
With the friends that she new best
They told each other of their dreams
And made up all the rest
They dreamed of mountains
And rivers of glass
Flowing through the mountain pass
The princess was never lonely
So many friends she had
They never ran out of games to play
They never had time to be sad
So little ones gather
And dream the whole night through
So you can share them with your friends
Like the little princess did do
Your friends will love you too
Dream big, they once said, then anything you’ll be
The pressure is on by the time I turn three
He'll be doctor, an actor, win Olympic gold
There’s no longer time for the playdough to mould
No time for decisions the clock starts to tick
You must push him now to become the first pick
Dream big, they once said, then anything you’ll be
My age has now tripled, shot up like a tree
I’ve learned how to listen and do what I’m told
The world is on fire, no sitting, no cold
His test marks are high, but he lacks concentration
Investment ready made, copyright imagination
The graphs on the wall teach compare and contrast
In more than P.E. we are told to run fast
He’s bright, no doubt, but due dates he misses
Shape his focus, his structure, stop doting on wishes
Behold, my little hands,
Behold my little body,
Not many, I cans,
Still need chair to potty.
Still need my bottle,
Still need my crib,
Mom cut back the throttle,
No need to fib.
Give a little time to grow,
A little time to grow up,
Plenty of time to sow,
I need of milk to sup.
I am of love, a gift,
A soul, quite new,
So neat and quit spiffy,
Often times I do spew.
At times I need a diaper,
I need many hugs,
At times still need a wiper,
I love to eat bugs.
Whoever’s to know,
Whatever you sow,
Will parents blow,
Or will love grow!
New souls, no voice,
Thus they had no choice,
Who’s child to be,
Will love grow, we’ll see!!

This memory of mine
Reminds me of a movie
A time when little mattered
It was so groovy
When I was a boy
Christmas time was the buzz
I unwrapped many gifts
About twelve I was
When I was all finished
Thought I was done
My dad pointed behind a cabinet
Was he doing this for fun?
I walked over to it
And pulled out my last gift
Wondering what it was
I started to open it in a swift
Finished opening the present
And you'll never guess what I saw
A Red Ryder bb gun
I just sat there in awe
Been a long time friend,
the last time we spoke was spring
things went wrong with us,
Feel like a knife in my chest
did not see the end this way.

Treat your child with loving care
let him know that Mommy is there,
The years go by much too fast
and when you look into the past,
You'll wish you would have taken time;
to read his book of nursery rhymes.
You always had things to do;
no time to play or go to the zoo,
Make time for him, dishes can wait;
leave until later the dusting you hate.
Read and play with him for goodness sake,
before he's grown, and it's too late.

Childhood faded away,
to a far away land,
simple, so simple were we,
days of play,
going our way,
having fun, no care
for another day.
Time for us stood still,
playing king of the hill.
Childhood faded away
thinking of another day,
summer time was fine,
when friends were kind,
swiming holes were filled,
our hearts were thrilled.
Childhood faded away,
to a time that makes me sway,
many years have passed away,
since childhood faded to another day.
Childhood faded to placed,
unknown to us,
floating somewhere in time.
