Zeus's Compliance
They thought so confidently that wintry brief days
would be over soon if Horae only agreed to appease;
and although they constantly pleaded with deep eagerness,
she wouldn't grant their wish but remained frozen by silence.
They should have asked Zeus: he was the god of each limitless sky!
He would have halted the roaring thunder followed by pelting rain!
Humans always ask the wrong deity, when they're hopeless, they cry!
Greeks believed in gods who dwelled above them: they called it heaven!
They cursed the stillness smothered by the approaching April's storm
and raised their vengeful fists, not thinking of Zeus's uncontrolled rage!
Who could withstand the might of the king of gods when he did perform
with fierceness and made war ships sink in
In secluded moorage?
And upset Horae having seen such a destruction, made a deal with Zeus:
, " Halt this storm and I'll make them worship you as the supreme god
above all the others in this vast heaven: where your power reigns!"
They were powerful words, she confronted him without being afraid.
Zeus raised his thick braws , stared at her reluctantly and was moved
by her words and gentleness of tone, " Earthly people are very greedy:
if they are willing to devote themselves to me, I'll comply and be kind. "
Horae smiled and delivered his message and they applauded cheerfully!
