Yusuf

Yusuf

Gimme a Moslem name
Gimme the Mercy of Islam
Let empathy be the flame
That fires who I am!

Humble Youth of chaste
Unblemished in his path
Who loathes wanton taste
Who fears God’s wrath;

A Dreamer I might be
By whom Divinities speak
Spiritually blind to see
And to uplift the weak.

Make me Son of the meek
Who basks in no blame
Who tirelessly seek
Nothing, but Yusuf’s name.

Thanks for the comment. Besides being my name, I am inspired by both Josephs in the Holy Books. To avoid being mistaken for writing about myself, being a Joseph, I decided to tackle it from the angle of a Great Religion of Islam. I read a lot of Scholarly books of Islam; I dedicated this quest for knowledge in one of my poems entitled "Scholar." Friend, JM
