You'Ve Given Me

I want you to know that I'm grateful
for you in my life at this time
You've given me something enormous
something I get to call only mine

Seeing the end of my life from where I am
I am sad when I think of my past
I wanted to accomplish more credible things
so that memories of me would somehow last

Then I realized something the other day
I have done something I didn't think about
I have loved you so unconditionally
You know this without a doubt

This may not seem like a bid issue for some
who are reading these words on this sheet
If you only knew how my lack of attention
made so many things I tried end up incomplete

But you were a different story
something about you affected my heart
I actually felt you inside of my being
and that was where all this got it's start

From that point on I was consumed 
by thoughts and visions of you in my mind
You were all I wanted and thought about
I've never had feelings like this of any kind

I poured everything into my love for you
I had to make sure you knew
that this feeling of pure admiration and love
was real and solid and true

So my claim in this life that I make
is that you can stand there and know for a fact
That I showed you a love that was unconditional 
and for once in my life it wasn't an act
