Youth Lost

This has become an indescribable truth
For among us lie waiting the lost youth
Youth misled, directed to walk astray
Youth shattered, disrupted, put in disarray
Youth of yesterday.

The lack of foundation, the lack of a drive
Keeps these lost youth despaired and deprived
As hopeless and reckless they outwardly saunter
With callous abandon they inwardly ponder
A disturbing blunder.

The youth are descending to outcomes so grim
A generations' gain falling dangerously slim
The youth less future casts weary and meek
The pain of low expectations lay pitifully weak
The future looks bleak.
