My cover was smiling and I was ready to go Sit in the back and be a shadow The large group of girls could only tell what’s next In a group chat, they were sending texts But I wouldn’t know, I wasn’t invited My mask was smiling and I was ready to go The clouds were merely a foreshadow A girl came in all innocent and hearty She asked me if I knew who was going to the party But I wouldn’t know, I wasn’t invited My facade was smiling and I was ready to go I was in my new heels ready to tiptoe I wonder what it’s like to be happy in your skin And finally, stop having to fake a grin But I wouldn’t know.
