You'Re My Remedy
Lazy Sunday, wilting roses
from a dream the night before.
Steeple-chasing shadows craving
at my broken engine door.
Hymns and dirges slash my venom
as the 45s go round.
Ashes buried for a lifetime
making up for trodden ground.
Cajun scorching blisters
packing all my wretchedness
Flaming cigarette on winds
I never can redress.
Senseless treason begging mercy
for a coward's lost remorse.
Untamed fortitude beneath
a bygone life upon your shores.
I wanna kiss you
over rainbows, inside castles
you're my remedy.
I wanna love you
be my cocktail, play my records
you're my remedy.
Silent fortune's malady
caressing all my fears,
fallen ages risen
from a tomb of insincere.
Seeds of anxious waiting
by the rosebed garden gate,
retrofitted for my heartless
reason and debate.
I wanna kiss you
over rainbows, inside castles
you're my remedy.
I wanna love you
be my cocktail, play my records
you're my remedy.
