I'm Henery The Eighth, I Am! Henery The Eighth, I Am, I am!
I got married to the widow next door,
She's been married seven times before.
And ev'ryone was a Henery,
She wouldn't have Willie or a Sam.
I'm her eighth old man named Henery,
Henery the Eighth, I Am!
Second verse same as the first!
H-E-N-E-R-Y Henery, Henery, Henery The Eighth, I AM. I am!

You're Beautiful, oh Yes You Are (to be sung to the tune of "I'm Henery the Eighth, I Am" -a 1910 British music hall song by Fred Murray and R. P. Weston and Signature song of the music hall star Harry Champion which was made famous by Herman's Hermits in 1965) You're beautiful, oh yes you are. Beautiful beautiful, yes you are! All the makeup that you're wearing right now - You don't even need it anyhow! And all your actions are beautiful. You shine with goodness like the brightest star. Don't you say that you're not beautiful. Beautiful is what you are! You're so sweet that I repeat: You're beautiful, oh yes you are. Beautiful beautiful, yes you are! Eyes that smile at everybody you see. More than beautiful you are to me. And all your actions are beautiful. You shine with goodness like the brightest star. Don't you say that you're not beautiful. Beautiful is what you are Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful is what you are! You are! 10/10/2021 for Natasha L. Scragg's Change The Record Poetry Contest (I tried to put the video of Herman's Hermits singing the original song, but I couldn't get it to go. Anyway, the tune was one of my favorites as a ten year old!)

I know you love Herman's Hermits so this tune is a perfect choice for you to work with, and the new lyrics flow with it just right. If I remember right, you started out at PS with some parodies of well known Christmas tunes... so this contest is right up your alley! Hope you have a winner here.

I love the original; this was so popular to sing when I was about 12 years old; I still sing it to this day! The new version is perfect! Fitting the rhythm incredibly well Andrea.

At ten did you even know what the lyrics were actually saying? Reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Very creative. Your visit to my page was uplifting. Sara

yes, I believe I learned what the lyrics meant (if not at that moment, eventually). But it's such an upbeat song, they were having fun with it as a parody of that hideous man.

On repeat…and repeat often! You are beautiful!

thanks, I think it's one song that all Americans and Brits would know if they were alive in the 60's. (along with Beatle and Stones songs too!)

Superb. I recall seeing Herman's Hermits in concert...actually, there was only one left, the lead singer! Anyway, he sang this song to the delight of the audience. I could only remember how the first line goes!
