You were born
I smiled, you cried
As I shared you with others
you smiled, I cried
You went off to school
I waved, you cried
You came running back to me
you waved, I cried
You had your first date
I smiled, you tried
Later you were married
you smiled, I tried
To let you go
was hard you knew
But you would always come back
to me, I knew
