Your Place in Society

The private school boy wears his blazer
His pimples are scraped by a razor
He’s learning his place in society
Just as a priest practices piety.

What a clever fellow he is
One day he’ll take over daddy’s biz
He’s learning his place in society
Just as a priest practices piety.

The poor kid wears a Nirvana T-shirt
It’s at the point where he can’t feel hurt
He’s learning his place in society
Just as a priest practices piety.

Last went to school when he was ten
Gets to see his mother now and then
He’s learning his place in society
Just as a priest practices piety.

Schools, prisons and the TV
Train us all how we should be
Slotting us into our place in society
While the drunken priest feigns sobriety.

Well said, Paul. Excellent msg on ridiculousness of socialisation. I love the refrain & final line. Apt title. ThkU for sharing.
