Your Picture

Your Picture

On the mantel above the fireplace
Stands a picture of you
Likeness to be exact
Color is perfectly true

I glaze upon it everyday
To my face it brings a smile
Brings me back to a better day
When things were so worth while

A simplier time, a happier time
Two crazy kids in love
One went on to college
While the other to heaven above

Destiny has away of stealing
Time we thought was ours
Now the only time I get to be with you
Is when I stare unto the stars

My mind is in a better place now
You would be so proud
Time has away of healing
The scars of a child

Your picture keeps me focused
Your memory keeps me sane
I continue on with life
In the honor of your name
