Your eyes are gone

Mother
the streets are cold
do you know my name?
I am getting old
don't forget to pray
so maybe God
can take your place
when you are gone...

Mother
the streets are dark
will you walk with me
to the park?
will you hold my hand?
will you take me in your arms
when the wild big dogs
bark?

Mother
what did I do wrong?
why did you have to leave me
alone?
why over the years
you didn't return?
why you blame the world
for your faults?

Mother
do you even understand?
do you know what I'm talking about?
do you even care?
your eyes are gone
your face is pale
you look like a ghost
maybe you are... and always were
