Young Is Gone

young is gone
fled before my eyes
leaving me
helplessly behind
wondering
what’s happened to the time

dreams fade
in cascade
descend, rapidly away
illuminated by glaring light
the honest light of day

affordable
yet I refused to pay
without excuse
I've nothing left to say

what is to be
matters not
no, not anymore
to tally up
means little more
nothing to the score
