You'D Better "sweat the Small Stuff"
What are these many
small things,
We're told we shouldn't sweat?
Perhaps a seemingly
harmless lie,
With no thought or regret.
Or maybe it's that friendly wager,
quite harmless,
between two good friends.
Again you say"What harm
can come",
If just this one rule bends?
That dirty joke at which
you laughed,
to feel accepted in your crowd.
Or epithet muttered beneath
your breath,
God hears as if shouted aloud.
Could "small stuff" be
thoughts entertained?
That on others have no bearing.
Or maybe your attitude has
simply become,
one of selfishness, greed or uncaring.
Could the things you watch
be "small stuff"?
Or by chance some things you read?
Are there young minds within
your home,
Where Satan is planting seed?
Then under the guise of
being social,
from a friend you accept one drink.
Again you think, what harm
has come?
But what will others think?
You may stamp yourself
a Christian,
seeking some big thing to do.
But fail to see how your
"small stuff",
affects those around you too.
For others, a Barricade
or a Bridge,
your life in Christ will be.
But if you don't "sweat the
small stuff",
both God and the lost will see.
Satan always starts with
"small stuff",
Intent in his methods and role.
Always subtly at work
pecking away,
until at last he's gained control.
