"you Weren'T a Friend"

You say you like me and I was your friend.
You say you like me and your friendship you'll send.
You say you like me and we'ld stay friends til the end.

You say you like me but things aren't the same.
You say you like me but you never speak my name.
You say you like me but now I feel I'm to blame.

You say you like me but our friendship wouldn't last for more than a day.
You say you like me but saying a friend was a word you couldn't say.
You say you like me but a best friend will never go away.

Interesting ideas about friendship...Sometimes friends are not really friends but are only out to get or take what they can get from a relationship then as far as they are concerned it is time to move forward to someone or something else..As Dolly Parton's song says "You Are Not Worth The Salt In My Tears"...She has got that kind of person described exactly with her words...Thanks for stopping by ...Sara

Teresa, true friends stick with us forever. There are a lot of "pretenders" out there; sometimes it's hard to know who is really going to be there until times get tough and the "best friends" are still standing beside us. Enjoyed your insightful poem. Love, Carolyn
