You Think You Want To Know Me

You think you want to know me.
I'm afraid you may not yet be ready to see.

I may have a kind heart,
but a dark head and past were the start.

I got lost in this day to day..
For it was the only way.
Here is where I shall choose to stay.

I can't be allowed to remain focused on the past.
Around that I've built this cast.
That will remain forever, but shouldn't last.

You could say I'm lost and I don't want to be found.
I am free, yet to here I am forever bound.
Sometimes this world is so much louder when there is no sound.

You want to see the person I no longer wish to be.
The person from which I would now flee.
I present my new and improved self to thee.

I'm sorry that you miss what's no longer here,
but I've put that in my rear-view mirror.
This is who you get now my dear.

I am presented before you on bended knee.
Is this who you want to see?
Do you think you're truly ready to know me?
